Links to good non DM'd games to host

Hey everyone,

I compiled this little list and attached links based on the information from the thread in General Discussion about this. I think we have seen this question come up quite a few times in the past.(I tried to find those other threads to reference more games, but maybe they are past pg 4, or were sub topics in other threads)

J'Dai you think this would be a useful thread to have stickied in the Players Connection? Makes it easy for new players to gather and have none DM'd modules easily found if they feel like hosting a game together. Also I linked the DM thread giving them easy access to the teaching modules and tools if they feel like giving that a shot. DM's and players can always add more posts and modules, so this can keep growing into a good resource for good games to host.

*edit* as I see DM's and Players suggest various games I will add them to the links above. If you post the name of the game below, I'll copy a link for it and place it in this list. So if you see your post below dissapear, it just means I have added the link to the list and am keeping the thread tidy.

Tunari is quite the gentleman and a gem. We'd be lost - and have a lot less to read - without him.

Added Carlo's The Hunted, which he just posted in General as a good dm'd or non-dm'd game.
Anyone who has one they think would be good to add to the list let me know.

I'd add Enoa4's Hythum to the list of good mods to play in multiplayer with or without a DM.

I very much enjoyed its epic mix of story, original setting, and action.

...I would recommend "Curse of the Azure Bonds". it's the sequel to "Pool Of Radiance" and equally nice. the final version was uploaded these days.

Updated the link to the Aielund Saga(four parts now). Actually playing that one now, excellent series.

I'll go through and test all links soon to see if they are all good still.

Haven't linked any new ones for a while now. Anyone play any other good non DM'd games lately?

I'm sure there must be some new ones out since I haven't added any in months.

Added one to the list, Caereena-Krakona Rising.
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=4045

This mod was desiged for SP, but it is possible to play in Multi wth some special items. I playing this mod now, and it is fun! Good stories, huge mod, and very tough combat though. Definitely read the Txt on the mod to learn about the unique features. Start at level 20, end up around 30-35. Did I mention the mod is huge! Dallo has some testers who played it several times and still missed an area or two. There is so much in this mod.

Anyway, if you want to try it with several players, post in the forum using the link in the above list so Dallo can tell you what you need to do to play it in Multi. Maybe it is something he can add into the Txt with the mod for future.
enjoy.

Hey Tunari

Thanks for adding my module to your wonderful list. Quite an honour given the quality that's on it

I should add the following information:

a) The module was designed for a single player and has never really been tested for multiplay. RyanDarth and I ran around together in it occasionally, however, and to facilitate this we created a unique power ring tagged it_jumpleader which every player would need to spawn in for herself.
Activating the ring's power would, as suggested, jump you to the party's leader.

This would need to used fairly often since it's probable that cutscenes would only fire once etc etc.

b) After electing a leader this person would need to handle the bulk of the dialogue since most variables are stored on the PC Speaker.

c) Most encounters won't scale for multiplay since I'm fairly pedantic about combat balance and at high levels encounters are notoriously unreliable. Thus I often deployed a number of triggers to spawn in specific critters so I could be certain that a battle would be precisely to design.
For this reason I suspect that starting level should probably be less than for single play. Possibly 17 for two players.
A single player is set at level 20 in the module's prelude, as would be anyone in a party. Suggest using dm_givelevel x (where 'x' in this case would need to be -3).

I'm sure there's other stuff I'll think of and, as Tunari has suggested, I'll update the module's readme asap for possible multiplay.

I'd actually be very interested in feedback on this issue from any of you folks who tried this, and of course would welcome any and all ideas how the thing could be facilitated for multiplay.

Cheers!

Guns N Eyestalks, a D20 Modern conversion of the module Eye of the Beholder, is now available at:
http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Modules.Detail&id=5373

It's single player or up to 4 players multiplayer, and uses all the custom classes, feats, and items found in D20 Modern. Consider it a no-DM-required opporunity to enjoy a part of the Modern system - and a great chance to go shoot/blow up/use Modern talents on some monsters.

different in many ways....

My _new_ module is part pw, part sound stage, and part something else altogether. Must see to understand 'different'.

JUST coming out of BETA (soon) so there are still a few bugs, but most are history. PCs will (in beta) have a chance to write in module books (journals) which will be used as treasure items and legendary literature in the post beta game.

Come be a legend in our new server.
