To be clear, I don't think there's anything you can do. I also don't think you should do anything else you're hypocritical (see previous point). Personally, I don't have a problem with cyber as part of the roleplay. I don't have a problem with people cybering for cyber's sake. I have a problem with disruptive behavior. I'm not sure why Zimith came here to post about it. I'm confused on that. I had hoped my post would defuse any feelings of obligation on the part of the people who control this site. It's not their responsibility to police the servers advertised here. I commented on the second issue, cybersex, to show how dealt with it. Not to condemn or condone it. As for Mirellest, I think I realize I'm still not rational on that subject. Best I don't speak about it anymore I think. --- My thanks to everyone who's contributed to this thread. It's been educational and has helped the rage I've felt on the issue. I look forward to reading any further discussion on the matter, but I doubt I'll be reply much any more.

| I really wasn't trying to get people to put in more restrictions, I just wasn't clear if there were actual policies in place. Ultimately, I just wanted to end the discussion about an obviously inflammatory issue. I believe I have made my feelings clear about cybersex, public servers are not the place for sexual activity due to the number of children that frequent NWN multi-player. However, since I have to accept the fact that they exist, I just don't go into them and can only hope my son doesn't either. Ok, lets see how many more people I can get angry with me. --ThCromwell--

I just can't quite put my finger on it, but there is something about this thread that I find incredibly annoying. Is it time for it to be locked yet? The "discussion" appears to be going nowhere - or is that just me? --StarStuff

As a Moderator, I'm damned if I do [lock it] and damned if I don't. Thus far, the bulk of the conversation has been mature and insightful. If people want to talk about it respectfully in this fashion, I see no issue. Other "locked" threads have been inflammatory, thus making the Moderator's role much more clear cut. Frankly, I'm happy to see that we can discuss this.

When this thread was first posted, I almost deleted it. I'm still not entirely sure that I shouldn't. I have problems with it on many levels. The biggest is that I felt our forums were being hijacked to provide a political soapbox for someone to promote their personal agenda. This is not the place for that sort of thing. Another reason is the pseudo adult theme. I am sensitive to the possibility of minors frequenting our forums. I am most definitely not happy with the targeted google ads. I am talking with Rizzen about modifying our preferences to block all dating service type ads. I thought our current preferences were set to prevent them. Yet another, is that as I write this I am finding it very difficult not jump on my own political soapbox. I'm not sure I have succeeded. I am fairly confident others have felt the same. Why leave it up, if by it's very nature it incites people? However, I do think discussions on dealing with cyber-ing in general is a valid community topic. If there is more to discuss there, then by all means continue. But please, keep it clean. I think our policy as quoted earlier pretty much covers us. If someone violates our policy here, we will deal with it. We do not police anything outside of neverwinterconnections.com. In fact as most have seen who have been here very long, we have had very little cause to police here at all. And that is a good thing, it speaks highly of this community. Please let's not poison our forums with political debate. There are plenty of other places you can go where that is appropriate. Moderators, if constructive discussion degenerates, please lock this thread. Gilaun

| Nice to see you, Gilaun. It's more than just "dating service" ads and, frankly, what I've seen there has bothered me more than anything I've read here in this thread. Alas, they can tricky to filter and I'm glad you are working on it. In truth, I was surprised that we hadn't seen a thread on this topic before. It's nice to think that we haven't *had* to deal with this before, but I know better. Despite the nature of this topic, I am very pleased to see how we, as a community, conduct ourselves on the Forum. I feel that is a prime example of one thing that makes this site so great. ~ JD

| Well said, Gilaun. I for one am pretty much done with this subject. I had many of the same feelings as you do regarding the origination of this thread and it's purpose on our boards. I did my best to keep it civil, but I think I started to loose my cool toward the end. I will probably check back here to see what folks post, but I doubt I'll post on this subject again. I think we have skined, stewed and made boots from this horse. on Jun 11, 2005, 5:36 AM, Gilaun wrote:| Please let's not poison our forums with political debate.
