Ahhh yeah, well it being a different site does explain it! Thanks for solving that one, both of you - it bugs me when things like that happen cos I always assume it's something dumb that *I've* done.
It does mean that 125 users were on the site in the last 15 minutes. We'll recheck the query... but it is a really simple query. We just say "Give us everyone that has a timestamp in the last 15 minutes". And the timestamp isn't user determined... its database determined.
Well, if anything I do prefer the old query as I can't really tell if anyone on the current list is 'currently' online or 'was' online 15 minutes ago. I don't really mind how it is now but it just doesn't seem accurate if it timestamps the last 15 minutes. I guess I just prefer the old system really.
Actually the old system did the same query. However, it used a different database table that was more volitile and was auto updated by the system. It took a lot more resources to has through.
We can narrow it so it does not use 15 minutes... Thats definitely doable. We just put that in there because we had no other inclinations...
The bug from the previous version of the site code - which shows the last post from someone even if they delete the post - is still in effect.
To replicate: - Create post - View forum, verify you are listed as the most recent posted to the thread. - Return to thread and delete post - View forum, you are still listed as most recent poster.
Probably true for the "Most Recent Post" list too but did not verify that right away. Hang on.

Oh okay that sounds like a good idea Rizzen
Maybe 5 minutes instead would help.
Either way works for me. Thanks for the quick reply
Alright well this is really sad but again I see someone listed on here that went offline over two hours ago.
Time is now 12.45am GMT. According to how the query is supposed to work, I should no longer be showing on the online list in fifteen minutes' time, cos I am going offline and straight to bed *now*. If anyone would care to check and see if I'm still on the list after 1am GMT, that should help clear up whether things are working as they should or not.

1AM GMT = 7PM CST (GMT-6). It's now 7:30 PM CST and you are still here. *hums* "Always something there to remind me..."

Still there an hour later. This is my last update.
Assume the site outage this morning was due to scheduled maintenance/updating? I had a game scheduled, but luckily it was a campaign and my players could find me through their buddy lists.
If it was planned, a note to people who have games scheduled for that time would be appreciated.
If it was unplanned, well, I hope nobody else missed a game!
It was unplanned LB. I made a news post on the front page about it.

Okay, thanks. Overall the site since you guys started upgrading is about 1000% better, so I cannot complain much.
Still, since I'd recently lost two weeks of games due to a line outage at my home, my players and I were starting to wonder if there was a broader conspiracy out to get us.
