Wow, thanks for the info Dane and Conor. This PC is roughly 5-6 years old, so it very well may be AGP. Now if I could just find a site that could tell me exactly what it was. I should call Gateway.

If you should happen to be stuck with PCI after all, Bigbluepaw, this ATI card looks to be your best (only?) choice for upgrade:

I couldn't find any other PCI card currently for sale that has Shader Model 3.0 and DirectX 9.0 compatibility. The Radeon X1300 XT PCIe version is on the recommended list for NWN2. The PCI version is undoubtedly slower and possibly less functional, but it may be enough to get you by with low settings.

Good luck!

Regarding NWN2 performance issues, I saw this post at ENWorld which was interesting:

http://www.enworld.org/showpost.php?p=3162888&postcount=144

Steel_Wind is rtrifts from the Bioboards, aka Robert of DLA, in other words, he's somebody who might know.

So it looks like all the bitching about poor performance on some rigs is linked to real issues that Obsidian is working on.

All I can say is that I used to think I had a pretty fast machine.

For what it's worth, NewEgg has the EVGA e-GeForce 7900 GS KO at US $165.99 after mail in rebate. I think it's about the most "bang for buck" card there is for NWN2.

Now if only the wife would let me buy it.

Hrrmmm... well, I now have the game and a new graphics card. NVidia 7600 GTS with 512 RAM on it. Terrible thing is I'm getting like 8-12 FPS in game.

Is anyone having good FPS in game? Could you share any tips?

I'm just surprised that they actually released this game when it brings higher end systems to their knees.

I heard that Obsidian is aware, that somehow high-end Computers are slowed severly by NWN 2.
They seem to work on the problem.

On my system everything is fine:

AMD64 3500+
1GB
Radeon x1900xt.

NWVault had a list that I cannot seem to find right now. But they suggested to:

1)Shut off all shadows or turn to "low" (I have mine off, but I have a 6800).
2)Turn off normal mapped terrain and point light shadows.
3)Reduce texture resolutions to medium.
4)# of lights set to 4 (or less).
5)Water reflection/refraction set to off.
6)Turn off XFire if you have it (although I've heard this has been fixed).
7)Turn off antivirus/spyware.
Max texture Anisotropy set to low.
9)Make sure you have the latest video and sound drivers for your hardware.

LB... that made a tremendous difference. FPS is now in the 20+ range. Game's much more playable. I greatly appreciate the help.
