I have that problem too, though I'm getting better at firing off party commands during combat. Still, I find it helps to just keep them encumbered.

Well, I had the chance to check out a couple of PWs over the weekend with two stalwart NWC companions, and I'm pleased to see that workarounds have been found for two of the biggest multiplayer killers:

- You can make cutscene-style conversations that do not force everyone else to stop what they're doing and watch your conversation. For the players not initiating the dialogue, the words simply float above the heads of the speakers, exactly as with NWN1.

- Area transitions happened individually, without jarringly sucking the rest of your party out the door with you.

Honorable mention goes to how seamlessly both of these mods integrated DMFI.

I know nothing about how (or if) the construction of a PW differs under the hood from an everyday mod, but it was very exciting to see these things working again.

Yea both of those two issues where / are simply OC defaults.

Glad to hear that both had the DMFI running.

Really? Is there a way to turn them off?

Also, I should mention that all three of us loved the new implementation of the language system. I know it was present in your NWN1 mods as well, but I never happened upon a DM who used it extensively. It opens up lots of fun roleplaying possibilities and is a great addition.

Bumping this old thread, as we're still going in the OC (25th session last night) and 1.05 caused some problems.

I don't know if it's patching a saved game, or just my machine. But last night both of my other players crashed out on ATs, and both had commented on the client going nuts on them beforehand (one lost the ability to move with the mouse). I didn't crash, but my camera went utterly wonky, resetting to full vertical every time I moved the mouse.

I was wondering if this was just me or if others were experiencing similar issues in 1.05.

Also, I still want to avoid spoilers here, but we watched some cutscenes last night where the voiceover for minor characters was just awful. Cringe-worthy awful. Also, there was a plot twist involving a "back door entrance" to a certain place that really strained credulity. Overall, the plot is still interesting enough in a broad sense to keep me going, although I know that without other players I would have dropped the OC by this point and gone back to multiplayer. Not necessarily a negative comment on the OC, but more a statement about how the NWC-style of play is far superior to any canned script.

We (me and 3 other players) played the OC with 1.05 this past Sunday, and I didn't notice any problems on my end. In fact, in the past we did have one player who frequently crashed at area transitions and I don't think he crashed this time, which was our first post-patch session. Of course, he also reinstalled recently so that might have been what fixed his problem, not the patch.

Following this link from a post in the DM forum
http://www.sundren.org
The host of this PW says his server is having issues from the latest update which are causing 100% cpu usage during peak times.

Well, I recently crashed on AT in NWN2 and in NWN1, and I did notice one big difference between the two. About 10 minutes worth of difference....

Well, if it is true that NWN2 is or has become a server hog that is likely to be a PW killer for a while since it is a single-threaded application and cannot make use of a dual-core CPU. They quit making faster single-core CPU when the dual-core came out, and the dual-cores are not any faster individually.

Anyone else out there running a large active PW?
