I have played DnD and read Salvatore's Forgotten Realms books, so I happened upon NWN Gold. I haven't played yet and I have a couple questions:
1. I heard players create their own campaigns, can you play through a raid or seige such as King Obould's (for all you readers)?
2.Do you have to make a new character every time you join a new server/game?

I am not 100% sure about the specific seige but there are a lot of good game son the vault and a few have sieges, sorry about the vaugeness.
As far as server characters yeah you do have to make a new one for each server game you play but thats not a bad thing either. Local games you can use the ones on your pc but otherwise makeem on the vault and tug em out when you need them.

does anyone know of a way to update the Official Campaign to the Expansion so you can play a lvl 30 chara with a new class from the Expansion?

The OC should be updated with the patches - make sure you're using 1.68 AND that you have HoTU installed.

I don’t think anyone has re-created this campaign in the toolset yet, but the toolset will allow you to create just about anything you’ve read in your books. It just takes a person with a bit of skill and a desire to translate it into the engine. "If you make it they will come"

On-line servers have their own logs of your characters; they keep them on their end to keep everyone honest and on a level playing field, although some servers allow you to play with your local characters. To find them, just put a check in the “Hide server vault” box on the main gamespy page. On the local side, you can play any character you please in any module (Almost)

It is my understanding Obsidian has no intention of allowing character levels above 20.

With the MoTB you can go to lvl 30 but even with the expansion installed the OC wont allow chara above lvl 20 or the new chara class and race.

Oh, ok. I guess I shouldn't comment too much with regard to NWN2. I've stopped following it because of the bugs.

there was a post about it while back at the official forums. seems like one made it right but all the rest don't know how (including me, not that I want). I think you need (and should) coppy the campaign (and name it differently) and then you open the campaign (the renamed one) in the toolset and there is something there to chage the max level from 20 to 30 but I don't know where exactly. then after you do that you can play in the renamed one as the OC with lvl 30.
these are only pieces of what I remember from that post. maybe later I'll try to search it better in the forums.
