Adrian surprisingly remains silent and even in calm, paying attention to the music and songs he hears now. At least a break from his troubled thoughts. The image of the executions was still on his mind, what kind of barbarian would do that; penalty death for stealing and prostitution? That is outrageous! What would be the penalty for assassination? Killing the whole family? Deep in his mind the man that made those rules must be an authoritarian dicator, the kind of people the US Army fights. However, those thoughts vanish with the music and song. Even more, suddenly he realizes that he is not feeling that annoying pain in the ear, maybe because there were not many gun shots, or thundering sounds, or perhaps is the music he hears? Could this be some kind of magic? A smile comes to his face, while mumbles for him. What is this? Eventually I will end up performing songs of Queen.

In ironic response, Oki responded to Adrian's request with: Is this the real life- Is this just fantasy- Caught in a landslide- No escape from reality- Open your eyes Look up to the skies and see- Im just a poor boy,i need no sympathy- Because Im easy come, easy go, A little high, little low, Anyway the wind blows, doesnt really matter to me, To me Mama, just killed a man, Put a gun against his head, Pulled my trigger, now hes dead, Mama, life had just begun, But now Ive gone and thrown it all away- Mama ooo, Didnt mean to make you cry- If Im not back again this time tomorrow- Carry on,carry on,as if nothing really matters- Too late,my time has come, Sends shivers down my spine- Bodys aching all the time, Goodbye everybody-Ive got to go- Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth- Mama ooo- (any way the wind blows) I dont want to die, I sometimes wish Id never been born at all- I see a little silhouetto of a man, Scaramouche, scaramouche will you do the fandango- Thunderbolt and lightning-very very frightening me- Galileo, galileo, Galileo galileo Galileo figaro-magnifico- But Im just a poor boy and nobody loves me- Hes just a poor boy from a poor family- Spare him his life from this monstrosity- Easy come easy go-,will you let me go- Bismillah! no-,we will not let you go-let him go- Bismillah! we will not let you go-let him go Bismillah! we will not let you go-let me go Will not let you go-let me go Will not let you go let me go No,no,no,no,no,no,no- Mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go- Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me,for me,for me- So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye- So you think you can love me and leave me to die- Oh baby-cant do this to me baby- Just gotta get out-just gotta get right outta here- Nothing really matters, Anyone can see, Nothing really matters-,nothing really matters to me, Any way the wind blows.... Oki finished up with a flourish, "Of course, this classic's words and music are by Freddie Mercury, and was originally performed by Queen." ------------------ ooc: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/q/queen/bohemian+rhapsody_20112599.html

Torrin stared in rapt attention as Oki played her song. As it finished, he clapped before smiling ruefully and shaking his head. "Very nice, my lady. I cannot say that I understood the lyrics, but the melody was very fine. I fear the differences between our two cultures is greater than I thought." He looked around the others before sighing. "I know none of you asked to be here and if it was my decision, you would not be. It is not that I doubt your fighting prowess or your honor, it is that I do not agree with forcing you to assist us. Be that as it may, his Lordship undoubtedly felt that this was the proper course of action and I shall assist you in any way possible until the time you are able to return. Until then, please accept my appologise for this predicament."

Phil tapped his foot to Oki's song. Strangely he felt much more at home. It was good to hear familiar music even if he could not truly grasp its' meaning. He thought of Pappy listening to his scratchy LPs back home in their double wide trailer. Pappy! Suddenly his foot stopped. If the bards here could sing gold out of his pockets then what would Oki be able to sing from him! The feeling of home was quickly replaced with one of trepidation.

A wide smile comes to Adrian face, together with a feeling of nostalgia, but some softness to his heart. Then, he turns to see Torrin and simple smiles at him.

((OOC: Say, does anyone have a log of session 5, when we got trained by the armsmaster at the castle? I accidentally lost mine. Please send to diocletian2001(at)hotmail(dot)com. Thanks!)) Joe had started to reply to his sergeant's concerns, but the familiar, rather haunting strains of the six-and-a-half-minute Queen classic hush him. After all, if you weren't going to be silent for Bohemian Rhapsody, what WERE you going to be silent for? Even so, he can't stop himself murmuring Momma, just killed a crab... under his breath as Oki sings the actual line, with some gusto. "The girl's not bad," he nods at Rusty, once the song fades out. "Not bad at all... anyway." "The Duke brought us here 'cos we're Gods, an' once we get here, we start fighting like any other mook in his loser army." Joe watched his sergeant's face. "That does not make sense. This is not how we were trained to fight, Nantle. All this sword shit looks good in the movies, but that's it." The Lieutenant inspected the hunk of bread he'd been toasting on the end of his bayonet, taking a bite and munching away. "But we don't have enough ammo, yeah, I know. Or enough gu - bows to maintain a base of fire, especially since Torrin an' Oki can't shoot, won't shoot. But, we DO know that everyone else in this place are idiots who think the sword is the be-all an' end-all o' warfare, so..." He began sketching in the dirt with his bayonet. "We got three, maybe four weapons that can shoot at range. Yeah, I'll take your bow, if you carry the spare AK. Here's the plan, with Oki in the back, me, Phil and Aguirre at the front, you and Torrin in the middle. We shoot, we lure 'em in, an' if - hah, WHEN they get past our fire, then me an' Aguirre fall back an' you an' the priest charge forwards an' get their attention. We fan around to the sides, provide enfilading fire while you two an' Phil keep 'em occupied. We'll try not to shoot you." Joe finished the diagram, which didn't make half as much sense as he'd hoped, and stabbed his bayonet into the ground for emphasis. "We'll pull out our swords an' get close too if we have to, but sergeant - ammo is not the only supply problem we have. Bandages, too. These... energy drinks. Every time one of us gets hurt, that's some more supplies we coulda used later, so we want to keep close-up work to a minimum. The chance of one of us losin' an arm or gettin' prodded in the kidneys by four feet of steel is not one I want to take. Much." He let that sink in for a few moments, before taking a breath and adding one last note. "And that's why I want everyone in DCUs and flak-jackets tomorrow, sergeant. Even you. This is bandit country, these stupid clothes make us easier to spot than a flock of seagulls on crack. You can keep the fire-axe, but you will trust your kevlar. Clear?"

Time was getting on, and Joe raised his voice, in what he hoped was an authoritative manner. "Alright, people, long walk ahead of us. Let's get us some shut-eye. We'll do a four-point watch - Nantle, you take first. Phil, second. I'll take third, and Aguirre, you take fourth. Goodnight." *** It was quiet out there, and dark. A lot quieter and darker than anywhere else he could remember being, in fact. No traffic, no distant sounds of civilisation. Just the crickets, the wind and the water. Nothing but firelight and moonlight; the absence of street lights and such on the horizon was... strange. There were so many stars, and try as he might, he couldn't see a constellation he recognised. Open your eyes, look up to the skies and seeeee... Joe looked up, and the stars twinkled back at him. He looked over at the camp, and saw the sleeping figures of his squad, Oki, Torrin, the two travellers they'd encountered... and without knowing why, he joined his hands, closed his eyes, and began to talk under his breath. "Hi. I know we ain't really ever talked much. My fault, that. I'm sorry. I don't know if you're listening. I guess you don't have to if you don't want to. But..." the Lieutenant sighed, and carried on. "I'm new to this, I don't know what I'm doing. Trying to sound like you're in control don't really cut it. These people with me're good people... if you can throw some help my way in getting them home, well... I'd appreciate it. I'd really appreciate it. I'd do whatever it took." He tried to come up with a suitably respectful way to end the rough prayer, but his reserve of poetry failed him, and all he could think of was, "Thanks. Amen." He waited a few more moments, hoping against hope that when he opened his eyes again, he'd be waking up in his bunk and it would all be a dream. But no such luck. Fine, he thought. Guess we really are gonna have to do this the hard way.

Quietly, to Rusty, "Essentially, you asked me if I thought I'd be safer here at the fort than with your squad, even even without guns and bullets. The reason I said I'd prefer your squad, is that this Dukedom and their ways, while on the surface, they may seem friendly and all.... they are probably more foreign and dangerous to us than the worst of times in our planet's history of Communist China, Islamic Extremism, Nazi Fascism and Ghenghis Khan wrapped up in one. The only reason I'm helping them now is to get us home safely and to help the general populace here. Chances are I'd be dead or imprisoned within the week on trumped up charges. Trust me, I'm sticking with you all, all the way on this one."

Torrin stood outside of the inn, watching the men disperse to their posts. He closed his eyes and tilted his head back, saying a silent prayer to the Shinning Father. Finishing, he opened his eyes and lowered his head before gesturing Joe over. In a low voice, "I wish to appologize for my actions regarding the Black Hand gang, but the law has no meaning if it is disregarded. And his Lordship is but a mokery if the laws are not obeyed. Saying that, I am but a guide and not the leader of your men. I shall try to follow your lead in the future." Looking very grave, he unslings his bow and checks for cracks and tests the tautness of the sring before re-slinging it and checking over his other equipment. "Whenever you are ready, LT. We should leave soon, though, before the Orcs have learned of our presence. Also, I have a bit of a surprise that may help us against them...Or at least even the odds somewhat."

"Well when you put it that way Oki, I can see your point. Fact is, we all need to remember that... especially Joe," said Nantle as he thought about his superior. He had made some good calls, it seemed wearing the body armor was the best decision. But the man was too relaxed with the locals for Nantle's taste. This was a country different from any on their world and it was dangerous to trust anyone, even the ones who offered to help. Maybe especially them.

http://home.comcast.net/~rampage97/games/The_Movies/Oki_Tawanaka_details/Costumes/index.htm Now on to props for episodes 4-8; sets for episodes 5-8; special effects for 4-8; scripts for 5-8; voice-overs for 5-8; songs for 5 & 7; a few costumes for 5-8; episode 4 progress looks fairly good, every hurdle I solve for 4, solves the hurdle for nearly the entire series. Costumes are almost a snap to do now, even some of the weird ones just take a little thinking instead of panicking and having no clue how to do it. If I can learn the 3D modeling software called Blender at some point, then, I got sets, props and complicated bone monsters right around the corner. Even though I have a lot of work ahead of me, I'm no longer in a panick; I'm making very good progress. hugs, Stephanie Expect a slowdown in production, as the Jewish High Holidays are around the corner. Happy New Year to any that observe.

| Actually, while I was filming the executions, I noticed people's reactions... you were evidencing signs of repulsion and disapproval to the proceedings. I need to check the actual log/film footage; but, I'm pretty sure that's how it went down. That earns a fair amount of trust in my book that you don't buy into this whole mess. That plus many things that you've said that I have on record. Basically, if the subject came up, you might be surprised the level of trust Oki has in Torrin. Watch it in her actions if nothing else.

Adrian doesn’t feels uncomfortable, as matter of fact, there is certain hint of join in him, and it wasn’t that bad after all. That man and wife had some troubles, but by the way he saw the man treats his woman, he simply does not deserve her, and no one should be treated like that. But at the end, people is strange on this land, even if they talk polite, they are more like savages, allowing their primal impulses control their lives. At least some of them, of course, he can’t speak for all, generalization is a major mistake, but so far Adrian does not like what he sees. For that, there is not really remorse in him, well, perhaps just a bit, because of the woman, but not for the man. On the other hand, there is some concern for Adrian. He has no idea about what the Priest and the Lieutenant talked about, but something tells him that a storm is close. Anyway, it won’t be the first time, and hopefully neither the last, at least he expects to get out of this land alive. Having troubles with these “civilians” does not concerns Adrian, but his platoon company, they are something different, he cares about each one of them… even that woman that now travels with them. She might not be part of the group, but on this strange land, certainly she is, and he will take care of her as possible. The rest, well, each one of them knows how to take care of him, but they are a compact unit, that works together, a single team. His troop are the only ones on which he trusts, especially here.

Trust is normally hard to come by in life; but, these men in her squad completely earned her trust the day they rescued her from the insurgents. She knew she was in severe trouble and was likely to be executed next for one reason or another very soon. The squad came at a time prudent in saving her life, and for that, she'd be ever grateful to that, and they would have her unwavering trust from then on. The incidents in Camar and on the roads to Bastion only reinforced her trust in Torrin and the squad. They proved themselves as loyal to each other in combat; as protectors; as ethically strong as possible given this harsh land; and in many other ways worthy of trust in her opinion. The more and more she saw of the people of this land and their behaviors, the more she was secretly repulsed by them for their ways... objectively they had a right to exist this way, as any culture has a right to exist for its peoples; but, that doesn't mean that she'd want to live among them on a personal subjective level. In her eyes, she was a reporter, and it was her responsibility to objectively report what she observed... if she was going to start editorializing and commentating on everything she saw, that was a different role of a job... one who is back in the comforts of a studio at the prime time hours. This was her chance to first, objectively report the news, despite her personal beliefs. As long as she kept that in mind, she was staying focused and doing her job.

Joe nods, seeming preoccupied. "Yeah, that... the hocus pocus you do. Anything you can do, it's all a help. Seriously." After a heartbeat's pause, Joe seems to come to a decision, and speaks out. "But... seriously, Torrin, does your Duke really have control out here any more? I saw those people in West Landing, they were all 'wow, Duke's Men', like they hadn't seen any in weeks. There's gangs of bandits out here with better equipment than the stuff you can get in the city, or the stuff WE could get in the city anyway. Frankly, the only thing probably stopping those bandits from running this part of the place is the fact that there's monsters or... aliens or whatever, and the bandits want to keep their head down in case they get an axe in it." He sighed. This command gig is starting to get wearing. First Nantle and his metal trenchcoat, and now... "I'm telling you this because my men are going to be taking off these damn cloaks. And if you travel with us, you'd better not fly the flag of Camar everywhere we go. If we need to i.d. ourselves, we've got this seal. Otherwise, it's better if people we meet outside these walls don't know who we work for to begin with." "It's probably too late for that now anyway, 'cos that smiling bastard bandit leader saw us and got away. But I can still limit the damage. Everyone seems to hate the Duke out here, Torrin, and probably the only thing that stops these Bastion people hating us too is because we -" Or I, he thought "-offered to help. If we'd just carried on to Ebon Wood, I don't think they'd have been welcoming at all."
