With the Lieutenant's words, Oki learned it would be necessary to travel more under their own care than under the Duke's protective word of honor. The Duke abandoned them for the most part and for the most part, they abandoned the Duke. Showing loyalty to the Duke to the wrong people was now a dangerous thing. This land was in even more trouble than the Duke and his people first let on. It was starting to become clearer to Oki how desperate the Duke really was to reach out across the worlds to gain the aid of this squad. To some extent, the Duke wanted dupes - people he thought would be men of honor that he could trick or bribe or somehow make them feel sympathy for his cause without regards for the way the Duke disregards the people's basic needs... or maybe he was just spread so thin that his rule was in shambles and this was a last ditch effort to bring favor to his people. Perhaps it was not her place to make guesses without all the facts, so she would keep digging until she got the truth of the situation.

Phil looked around what they called a Fort making sure all his grenades were accounted for and secured. One of these things falls off, he thought, and this whole fort will go down. What kind of fort was made of wood? EVERYONE knew forts should be made of natural materials like corrugated steel and cement! He watched "Double A", the way he looked at women made him wonder if Pappy had in fact got things wrong. Oki, seemed nice enough, at least to Phil's eyes. Of course Sarg had said to keep "Double A" away from the women, but that just seemed to encourage the Specialist. He thought back to the grunting monsters they had engaged and the bandits. He did not much understand what any of the two had said but when LT gave the order to fight he couldn't help but feel good to have orders to follow. He looked around the group as they walked. It hadn't been much easier here than Iraq, but he did not know if he could have picked a better group to be stuck with in this strange land. He looked at Oki and thought, if she did not try to get too friendly maybe she would be alright as well.

Torrin frowned at Joe's words before responding, "I don't agree with deception of any kind. I am the Duke's subjects, as are these people. Yet, I can see what you mean, LT. While the Duke is the lawful ruler and, thusly, his rule is law, following blindly is not how I was taught. Saying that, I am still the Duke's lawful representative here and will ensure that his law is followed. But, nowhere is it written that justice is to be served without mercy or descrestion. I will allow you to handle any future diplomatic situations, LT, and will only intervene should I deem it necessary or if my assistance is required. Though I do not feel that the Orcs are interested in a peaceful solution." He looked at each of the men in turn, gazing slightly longer at Oki before quickly turning his gaze elsewhere. His frowned deepend as he stared at the sky, wondering why this quite woman from a foriegn land intrigued him so. He resolved to have a talk with His Holiness after they returned. His conflicting emotions knawed at him and he needed a sympathetic ear.

"I do not feel that the Orcs are interested in a peaceful solution." said the priest. Joe nodded, with a little snort. "Suits me just fine, man. That suits me just fine..."

Torrin walked up behind the werecat a safe distance, not even attempting to silence his footsteps for he knew the creature could hear him behind it. He stood silently behind it, his bow strung over his shoulder, but his war hammer within easy reach. Looking over its shoulders, he signled to Adrian to remain quite. The last thing they needed was for the brash young soldier to attempt to seduce the female werecat - he might get more than he bargained for. He cast a quick glance around, noting the positions of the pair of panthers that were prowling around and to make sure Oki was not in any immediate danger. He signaled to Joe to stand by him and coughed polietly, waiting for the creature to turn around. Hopefully this creature could assist them with the Orcs, or at least not hinder them. Though he knew little of were creatures, he knew they were as or more capable of killing as their four legged cousins. He had no desire to put that to the test. [OOC]: Ignore the laugh Torrin made when he saw the cats the other night, I think the lateness of the hour rattled my brain more than usual and I wasn't thinking. When I first saw the werecat, I thought she was the priestess from the city.

Oki had done a little filming with the camera; but, all she had needed was a few images of the woman and the red panther she figured, which she got and the dead orcs from earlier. She had the camera down by her side in standby mode in case anything else of interest occured.

We'll start the next session with the scene between you and the cat-lady. IC posting can either be lead-ins like Gulfwulf posted or musings on your earlier encounters with the orcs.

Your squad's behind enemy lines in a foreign country. You're low on ammo and supplies. You've no lines of retreat, no lines of communication, no EVAC point. You've got civilians in tow. Oh, and you're lost in another FREAKING world, you're fighting eight-feet-tall aliens or creatures from Hell, you don't have a goddamn clue what they are or what they can do, and they outnumber you 100-1. What do you do? Had he slept through that course at West Point? Probably not, because had there BEEN a course like that at West Point, he would have walked out. It didn't happen; it wasn't supposed to happen. You just didn't send 4 men to take out an army of over 400 monsters. You didn't even send 50 into a forest and realistically expect anything. Back on Earth, modern warfare had been shaped by thousands of years of practice and pragmatic philosophy, but these Camarians, they hadn't just not heard of Total War, they hadn't even heard of common sense. And the horrifying thing was, whoever had assembled this army DID know what they were doing. He had no choice but to try to find some way of neutralising this force, because based on current performance, he didn't think there was anyone else in Camar who could. It was war fought by comedians or blind men. It was classic Little Big Horn stuff. It was looking down on events and knowing that the only things that stood against the death of a whole town were blind luck and military incompetence. It was enough to drive him mad. Oh, and then they met the cat woman. Yeah, that just made everything make sense.

Adrian eyes explores from head to feet every inch of the woman that just came out of no where. At firs it surprised him, but took him not much to realize about what he has right in front of him. Even though her tone of voice is not nice when she addressed to him, Adrian widely smiles, and can’t resist winking at her. He manages to greet her in a kind way, when hears someone approaching from behind… as matter of fact from different directions. His becomes aware of the big cats, but also his eyes catch a glimpse of something or someone else. From one side he was able to recognize the heavy footsteps of the Priest, approaching the woman from the back. But also, Adrian thinks he heard someone else, and not precisely one from the troop. When Adrian sees the Priest sign, suddenly he is brought back to reality… well if anything of this is reality and not just a bad dream. The situation is not normal; the woman can’t be just that, there is something else. Therefore, following the Priest’s sign, the scout shuts up, waiting for the Priest’s reaction. Of course, that didn’t stop Adrian to take a quick glance at the woman’s legs, and nods with approval. ((I think I saw someone else, not a creature, apart from GW, but didn’t go too deep on this idea until we go IG)).

Nantle kept his eyes on the cat lady, trying his absolutely best to do what he wanted to do so bad. But it was getting to him... the itching... the irritation... He wasn't going to last! This was it! "ACHOOO!" "Damn allergies," muttered Nantle.

The reality was beginning to set in.... funny way of phrasing that, Oki thought... "reality setting in" in a world where by all her normal standards... this world didn't even exist. She moved on past that thought. Apparently now the reality was the Grand Duke, and by extension the Lieutenant Kalos at Bastion, somehow expected or "hoped" these four soldiers with their automatic weapons... almost magic or even heroic or more to these people could somehow wipe out an army of hundreds of orcs, etc. Oki realized she was a bit unfocused here, 'Okay,' she thought to herself, as she began to organize her thoughts, 'we got a general guide and diplomat with Torrin and apparently competent locals that hated the orcs. Stay focused on them now.' Oki had already lowered the camera earlier to a discrete position by her side for filming, so she introduced herself, "Hello, I'm Oki Tawanaka. I believe you're the ones that got rid of some of the orcs by the entrance? I'm a bard and reporter from a distant land. Very interesting style you have."

Phil looked completely befuddled. So much so that his usual blank stare would have looked like a musing genius. Big dogs that popped out of no where and now this. When he got home to the double wide trailer he knew no one would believe him. In fact, he wasn't sure he did himself. The only tie to sanity he had at the moment was his ability to follow orders and as long as Sarg and LT were there to give them, he would be there to obey. Stand ready. If ordered, let the fur fly! He gripped his sword liking the balance in his hand.
