help I have the german version of NWN 1.68 with both expansions and CEP2. I have a 56k connection through a university in the USA (where I live). I can connect to the gamespy area which displays servers and allows me into the chat rooms, however, all of the servers have pings as 0 or somewhere in the millions.. like this: ping = 1053859 or sometimes a little lower: 456350 what could the problem be? I also get some sort of failure to connect message just before I get to the screen where I select either LAN or internet games, but I am still able to connect to gamespy for chat and stuff despite the message.

It sounds like you are trying to play through a firewall. Most likely you are playing through a router and don't have access to the settings that need to be changed. You may need to get your own ISP account if you want to play online. Here's the thread on playing through a firewall. http://www.neverwinterconnections.com/forums/index.cfm/fuseaction/viewmessages/id/23326/guildid/0.htm You'll likely need to contact the schools network admins and ask them to open the necessary ports. Don't be too shocked if they ignore your request unless you can either find a valid academic reason to open them, or get one of them hooked on the game.

hmm... I haven't had any luck with adjusting the port settings though. I think that my university has an open port policy of some sort, so the ports should be open on their end already, but I found out that they use a traffic prioritization thing, a “packet shaper” like this one: http://www.packeteer.com/ whichs gives low priority to anything not on the high priority lists. I guess the school has a message board where you request priority for certain servers, in which case I would need to know the IP addresses of the servers which I want to connect to. are there any regular nwn servers which you'd recommend? or are the IP's I'd need different for each game? I'm not certain that this is the problem though since I'm able to play other online games ok, like the battle for middle earth RTS .. anyways, thanks for the info
