Catalina looked at Jane as she spoke, and blinked at the final sentence. She licked her lips, hesitating just a moment, and then replied in a carefully even tone of voice. "De Farrago, Catalina, attache to the British Consulate." Then after the slightest pause. "Pleased to meet you."

Jane replied to her, "Pleasure to meet you as well, Catalina De Farrago," offering a handshake.

Also, just a note that I haven't seen any character ideas yet! |
| Um....where are these? I was downloading the D20 haks through the link on the first post in this thread - didn't see any of these.

The Worms haks are linked from the Game Description page. They are located here: http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Hakpaks.Detail&id=6631. But you should already have most of those files from GGS; I think there's just one or two that we didn't use in that campaign. Jenniza, remember that we're using Local Vault, so you don't need to send me your character. Also, you can have all the 0 AC outfits you like. LB

Thanks LB - I'm missing one of those. I probably should have downloaded these files earlier - it is going to be a bit close with character creation; apologies if I am a few minutes late.

Thanks, SmartAlec. Still trying to download all the various haks - looks like I missed a few. Once I get those, will try to create a local character.

Good start, although I'll definitely need to tweak some of the traps given that Search doesn't seem to be a class skill for anyone yet. And you'll have access to more specialized tools in the future to offset some of the default penalties in d20 Modern. Next week we'll get an introduction to X-COM proper, and the base where you'll be spending a lot of your time during the campaign. I will also be involving your group directly in the research and manufacturing priorities of the base, a la the original strategy game. I'll post the next session sometime tomorrow. Remember to send your characters to my e-mail address sometime in the next few days, so I can set up the server vault for next time.

Jane looked among the others, "That was pety good teamwork there at the end. We were learning pretty quickly to work together at each step of the trials. Buzz, you disabled the robot in one shot. Catalina, you did well with booby-traps and locks. Vasily, you were good in combat. Doc Allen, great work with the patcing up. Doc Baron, great work with trying to figure out what was really going on. We still have much to learn though. This place seems eager to teach us what we need to learn to survive through some rather crazy things we're going to face in the next few months. I consider myself lucky to be among you. I only hope I can do what it is they expect of me."

ooc speaking of which... to examine objects (the old version of Lore/Identify is now... D20 Modern Action Identify (might tke a few menu clicks on the object on ground or inventory... the skill check is based on Knowledge Technology usually, but it could be based on Art, Civics, Current Events, Business, Arcane Lore, Physics, or anything really, and will usually reveal one of two things: an accurate item description or consult DM for more information) ------------ entering/exiting vehicles first you have to unlock them with a key or break the lock or bypass the lock... next you have to declare if you are entering as a passenger or driver... if there is another system that LB is using, he will explain at the appropirate time... ----------------- climbing need rope set, then D20 Modern Action menu animation should kick in jumping it's hard to do right... you have to be super close to the edge without falling over the edge... then D20 Modern Action menu... it'll do the running start for you based on your jump skill... yes you can and sometimes will fall, I've done it many times and had to climb out of pits or up stairs... hey that's why people choose to run back down the stairs, isn't it? crawling crawl mode on/off it's toggleable, then you move in crawl mode for as long as you want... yes you can still be shot at and die. dual-wield handguns it's the cool things to do they need to be the same exact model of hand gun, I believe. speaking of which, always examine your guns and memorize the ammo type... keep plenty of it on-hand... oh, and D20 ammo has weight (I forget how much it weighs) more random babbling as I think of it...

climb/jump - actually uses a climb animation and usually rope or the equivalent. the animationi is extremely cool... the jump animation is activated as above. both the climb skills and the jump skills are activated via the D20 Modern Action Menu and actually look really cool. computer use - typically this is DM assisted via the ability roll feature crafting - as LB mentioned, he wants to be in he loop on these rolls... I recommend it as well... I've found there are still a few bugs in the system here and there. D20 is not bug-free. typically, it'll open a "D20 shop" where you craft the items based on your crafting skill (think of it like a purchase - pass/fail) the reason for including the DM is because he system is buggy and a lot of times you fail when you should have passed. Hence, don't trust the crafting system 100% of the time. But when it works, it's cool, it can make almost anything in your profession... sometimes saving you lots of shopping effort. decipher script - code-breaking & languages gather information - typically from people research - typically from records search - search for clues/objects spot - search for people listen - listen for people investigate - analyze clues found in search, etc. hide - stealth not moving move silently - stealth moving forgery - compare forgery skills to detect forgeries drive/pilot/ride - various forms of travel: land, sea, air, space, living escape artist - yes, there are handcuffs, etc in D20 and it helps to break free gamble - gets complicated and involves your wealth and your gamble skill as would be expected... not for the timid handle animals - never know when a guard dog is gonna be a problem knowledge rolls - typically requested by the DM for things... also used to Identify objects using D20 Modern Action (see above) Navigate - to distant locations (land, sea, air, space, etc) Profession - complicated to explain, but, more is better, as you gain more wealth as you level based on it. Repair - things break and one needs a DM to assist in fixing them, this skill helps Sense Motive - want to guess what someone is doing and why? ask a DM to help you guess... the more info you can provide the better. sleight of hand - what pickpocket was meant to be survival - at high levels, think MacGuyver... j/k Treat Injury - toned down version of Heal skill

ooc feats aircraft operations (airplane/helicopter) proficiency : generally speaking, D20 let's most things be done at -4 without the proficiency or kit, so I guess that's the case here. usually the DC's are pretty bad anyway, so the -4 just makes a bad situation even worse. animal affinity : +2 handle animals & ride skill checks armor (light/medium/heavy) : LB, somewhere on the palette there's a special ring (something like poorly worn vac suit) to allow people to wear heavy vac suits without the heavy armor proficiency... it comes with major penalties to dex and stuff, so you are clumsy, etc. Ie players take off the ring when not using the vac suit basically as an honor system. (I'll ge to occupation rings in a bit) athltic : +2 climb & balance attentive : +2 investigative & sense motive builder : +2 to two crafting skills cautious : +2 demolitions & disable device confident : +2 gamble & intimidate far shot : single shot vs very distant target ---> dead aim : +2 far shot (dead-aim mode) deceptive : +2 bluff & disguise double-tap : extra attack per round (gets complicated) educated : +2 to most knowledge skill checks endurance : +2 constitution checks & fortitude checks focused : +2 balance & concentration gearhead : +2 computer use & repair guide : +2 navigate & survival heroic surge : haste for one round, 3x/day low profile : reputation -3 renown : reputation +3 medical expert : +2 craft pharmaceutical & treat injury meticulous : +2 forgery & search nimble : +2 sleight of hand & escape artist quick draw : haste, 1x/minute quick reload : reload = free action run : 20% faster strafe : autofire 7 meters x 2 meters burst : 5 bullets (complicated, adv firearms, 13+ WIS) studious : +2 decipher & research surface vehicle operation (boat, heavy, ship, tracked) : again, assume without it, one would be at -4 would be my assmption based on D20's tendencies. "what do you mean you've never driven a tank before?" "Does Tron count?" "NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" track : track most creatures/most terrains trustworthy : +2 persuade & gather information windfall : +3 wealth & +1 all future profession checks -------------- i could look up the rest in the D20 manual, but that's going to take time. they will be more class specific and things that are based on prerequisites that I haven't seen or don't recall. I'm pretty sure that most classes max at level 10 anyway, so there shouldn't be too many surprises popping up on you. Feel free to share what you learn.

A reminder that we're moving to Server Vault for the next session. I have received character files from chiz, TheBaldMan, and Vanya Mia. Jenniza, I never got your file, so you may want to try resending it. LB

| Buzz blushed a bit at the compliment but not because he was proud of what he had done. For God's sake, he thought, it was blind luck! He had tried to sneak up on the behemoth and grab at some circuits but to his dismay the thing had turned on him and he squeezed the trigger without thinking. He was, however, able to scavenge some of the wires and parts that he thought would be useful. He had hidden them in his clothing as they had all unloaded the gear they had used in training. He chuckled uncomfortably as he fidgeted with his goatee. "I hope we all can keep each other alive. If fighting those things was a training session...we're in for some trouble!" At least I am, he thought, hells, even the Doctors and women look more dangerous than me! // Wow Jenn...great info thanks!
