SA's analysis is correct. on Oct 24, 2008, 5:46 AM, Smart Alec wrote:| When you say 'session', do you mean 'training session' or 'game session'? If it's the latter, it implies that there will be another round of will rolls for psi boosts before the coming game. |

"Look, are you sure this is worth it?" Apart from the brief comments concerning deployment of research and manufacturing capacity, Catalina was continuing to avoid discussing the psi training. "Yes, yes, but is it just something that I'm never going to be able to do? I mean, it's not achieved anything up to now." She'd gone to the appointed training sessions on time, and had worked, but after a number of sessions with no improvement her step was noticeably less lively when she entered the room. "I hear you, and I don't want to give up, but I'm getting headaches and I don't think it's getting anywhere." The chirpy banter was completely missing as she entered the last session of the week, and it took all the counsellor's persuasion to raise the determination to proceed. "Alright, you've convinced me. I'll try my best, I'm just not sure how long I can keep this up." ((OOC - Cat's still trying, I just don't think she will for much longer! ))

Some back and forth, but this is what I'm hearing. Research: Psi Research 1 (30) Alien Grenade (6), with Cat and Vasily contributing skills. Manufacturing: Improved Motion Scanner (10). Note that the last time I checked I think that Cat had 3 of these in her inventory... Regen Serum (6) Medikits (4) Plasma Tank (10) HWP Repair (6), with Jane helping out. Jane and Cat working on Psi Training (posted).

ooc: my guess had been that Mary was going to work on the Regen Serum (manufacturing) from the little that I had gotten from initial conversations with Bob, and follow-up conversations this week and this weekend. I'm happy with LB's analysis of Research and Maanufacturing Priorities and allocations. If indeed, Catalina has three Improved Motion Sensors... the questions becomes, do they have charges? how do they work? does she want to even acknowledge IC having hese or was that private information that we weren't meant to know? Or were they meant to be shared? I wasn't sure how to read that statement. I'm assuming we're to ignore the statement as a matter of fact until directed otherwise. No problem.

Mary Ranma sat at the head of a conference room table in an office, off to the side of the Bio Lab. Around the table, four engineers sat silent, waiting for her to speak. Because of her work on the Regen formula, she was put in charge of the team responsible for developing it further. She had never been in charge of anything, or anyone, before. Butteflies churned in her stomach, as she stared back at each face. She could find no words. "So... We think we made some progress today," said an engineer finally, a black woman about Mary's age. Her name was Loretta. Dr. James, to the men. "Sample 48. After dividing it into fourths, we tested each portion under different conditions, and with varying amounts of the addative. " "Yes, I saw that," Mary said. She liked Loretta, and followed her lead. "Especially sample 48B. It grew almost five centimeters. Almost double." "Yes, but why?" Walter Burton asked. Burton was almost fifty. Mary knew he was not very pleased about not being the teamleader. But, for the sake of the mission, he kept it polite. "We only injected that sample with 4 micros of the addative. 48a also had 4, but it just sat there in the dish. C and D had five micros each. C grew a centimeter, but D just withered up." Another engineer, Sergio Flores, looked at Mary. She was certain he was looking at her chest. He always rolled his eyes over her, when he thought she wasn't looking. He did the same to Loretta, and every other female that passed through the lab. "Maybe we should put it in the centrifuge for awhile" he said. "You want to put everything in the centrifuge, Flores," Dr. Burton said. "What can I say? I love to play with it. It's why I got into science in the first place." Everyone except Flores smiled at his comment. He seemed surprised at the reaction. "We need to find what variant affected B positively," Loretta said. "And potentially more important, what destroyed sample D." "We should get right on that," Burton said softly to Mary. His tone was condascending. He was the grandfather, she was the child. "It could lead to the next generation of the formula." "No!" Mary replied firmly. She stunned herself as well as the others. "Further study will have to wait. I have only a few vials of the original formula. Alpha Team is going to China TOMORROW. I'm going to need as much of the original formula as we can get make by then. Enough for each teammate, and hopefully a few more besides." Loretta smiled. "Sounds like a plan. Let's get to it." Burton and Flores got up; Dr. Burton non-too-happy about being rebuked so firmly. Dr James followed, but not before flashing Mary a huge smile and a thumbs-up. (ooc - I took some liberties with this post. I made some new characters. I don't know all the NPC's, being the game newbie. So, I'm ASSuming that our X-com base is actually larger that what is seen in game, and that there are more people there. If I'm mistaken, I apologize. Mary is focusing on producing as much of Regen formula 1 as she can before Alpha Team's next mission.) Mary – K/ Life Sciences & Craft Pharma 14

| Thou art a benevolent DM. *** It wasn't good, by any stretch of the imagination. If the aliens attacked, now, he'd fight them, certainly - but it would be a miserable experience, more so than usual. His dry eyes ached, and the persistent hum in the air that so permeated X-Com HQ was aggravated to a tinnitus that made him want to stick the stirring spoon in his ear and wiggle it around. As it was, he'd been watching the faint vibrations on the top of his cup of coffee for almost ten minutes now, lost in a sort of daze. Between tweaking with the alien grenades - a task that required the utmost delicacy - and the psionic training, it was hard to save up much concentration for anything else during the day. But then, he was hardly alone in working himself to the bone - in only ten minutes, sitting here at the X-Com cafeteria, he'd been aware of at least two dozen tired folk drifting to the counter and away again moments later, clutching some piece of lunch and half-finishing it before they'd made it down the corridor. The whole base had been on a war footing for weeks now, but people couldn't keep that up forever. Having gone through worry, outrage, shock and desperation, the strain was starting to tell. X-Com was summoning its' last energies now for what everyone no doubt hoped would be the turning point - the genuine turning point, and not simply another step on the ever-growing ladder that was this alien war. And that was why he lurched to his feet, downed his stone-cold coffee, and marched back into the medlab - all the way to the training chair. "Ok," he announced to his trainers of the day. "Let's go one more time, yes?" *** on Oct 26, 2008, 11:28 PM, Jenniza wrote:| If indeed, Catalina has three Improved Motion Sensors |
| Going over the pages, I don't think we've ever built more than two of the improved motion sensors. I may be mistaken, but is it possible one of these is one of the older models? In any case, they only come in handy occasionally (we're usually charging forward, yarr ) and having two players use them at the same time would seem to be awfully wasteful, seeing as they only have five charges each. Did I hear right that they work off the Listen skill of the user? And yes, those research/manufacturing priorities seem just fine. Let's hope for some genuine psionics in our team!

The work on the grenade, was delicate and potentially dangerous, but something Catalina found almost a relief compared to the psi training. Earnest conversations with Vasily concerning the relative success of different trigger devices, the most effective delay and the activation mechanism were more like the teamwork she craved and a simple way of pushing the stresses of the psi training to one side. Each small success was something that raised a satisfied grin. "Damn I really hope these are done in time to stuff it to them." ((OOC - Confirmed then that Catalina helps (I hope) with the Knowledge Tech 15 or Disable Device 20, depending on what best represents an understanding of trigger mechanisms.)) *********************************************
| If indeed, Catalina has three Improved Motion Sensors... |
| ((OOC - She has at least one improved, possibly another and a remaining old one. She doesn't keep them secret, I can't even think of a reason why she would, and they were definately handed to her by another PC as I don't think she's ever been first to the kit box. I emote her using them openly and they are held out for all to see. SA is correct in his assessment of their use. Yes there is a listen skill involved, yes someone usually goes ahead and so there's rarely been a chance to use them, and no there's little point in more than one having them. That said, if you want them shared or given to someone else then let me know. I don't think we need more.))

ooc doesn't matter about the imp motion sensors, everyone. honestly. sorry for bringing it up. feel free to redistribute the 10 points of manufacturing to something else then, perhap like this? Manufacturing: Regen Serum 1 [6] [Mary - skill 14] Medikits (4) Plasma Tank (upgrade & repair) [3+7] (Jane controls it) Plasma Tank [10] (Hadrian or someone that avoids melee controls it) HWP repair kits [6] (Jane - craft mech 16, repair 15) thoughts? or Regen Serum 1 [10] [Mary - skill 14] Medikits (10) Plasma Tank (upgrade & repair) [3+7] (Jane controls it) HWP repair kits [6] (Jane - craft mech 16, repair 15)

The dice gods favor you this day. The investment in Psi pays off with 3 people gaining boosts due to that +5 (and others may benefit from it down the road). * * * * * HQX is engulfed in a flurry of activity as the date for the base attack raid draws near. Security is ratched up to its highest level ever, and tensions are tight. When a few physicists in the research labs get into a fistfight over a disputed centrifuge, you know that tensions are tight. Alpha Team's every waking minute is scripted. Joan Beauvois implements a new training regimen based on the data recovered from the Antarctica base computer and the latest data from the Ethereal analysis team. The results are impressive, as all of the team members show improvement--in some cases dramatic improvement--since the last round of Psi tests. Will save vs. DC15 (+1 per point >14 on roll) +1 to roll for IC posting. Advanced Psi Research: +5 to all Psi Training scores. Jane: roll (16 +11 +1) +5 = +19 bonus Cat: roll (12 +6 +1) +5 = +10 bonus Vasily: roll (4 +5 +1) +5 = +5 bonus Mary: roll (20 +12) +5 = +23 bonus James: roll (8 +12) +5 = +11 bonus Hadrian: roll (11 +9) +5 = +11 bonus Finally the day comes. Alpha Team's gear is laid out on a long table in one of the research labs. The new advanced interface for the medical production unit is put to hard use; 25 medikits are produced. Mary's work synthesizing the regeneration serum results in 5 doses, lying innocently in portable injectors. Jane's work on the HWP team results in two repair kits, sitting in squat, folding cases. Vasily and Cat spend days sequestered in an unused lab, poring over the alien grenade. The clean-up teams bring several cases full of junked components taken from the multiple alien ships that Alpha has claimed. Curses are overheard coming from the room in several languages over the week, but by its end the pair have three working alien grenades, in addition to the sample that was originally provided to the research team. (ooc: All skill rolls passed, +100xp to Jane, Mary, Vasily, and Cat. I added +3 medikits this time to make up for my mistake last week on the Level 1 kits.) The other gear is ready. Mary has a hypo filled with the Chryssalid countermeasure. Cat carries the bulky Blaster Launcher, with several snub rounds loaded inside. Doctor Sandesh delivers a ready Plasma Tank, and as the team is getting ready to board the Lightning, he comes into the room training a second HWP, a new configuration, with an odd bulge at the top where the weapons array should be. "This one is special for your trip," he says. "It has the AI suite and will follow you on command, but it has no weapons. Or rather, only one; an atomic warhead. It is set to a 10-minute delay, which can be altered by any of you via voice-print recognition. Once you have captured the alien commander and are ready to depart, activate the countdown and leave... swiftly."

Jane took a deep long breath and a deep long stare at the newly-equipped nuclear-warhead carrying HWP. This hadn't been what she had in mind; but, now she KNEW where the terms of this war were progressing. The decision was made at the highest level possible to make this kind of decision.

FROM: Jane Swift, X-COM Field Agent TO: Michael Garret, X-COM UN Liaison RE: Mission Report – Commander & Base We came, we abducted, we nuked their butts. Although there were some complications, we accomplished both primary and secondary objectives. There were lots of strange alien species and freak show mutation projects (animal, plant and spore). The joke was that they joined the alien alliance to form their own theme park. Some of the projects offended a few of us, others were just plain disturbing. Regardless, it’s all gone hopefully, unless they have redundant sites. I followed through with the orders with the secondary objective as instructed.

Scene: Dr. Beauvais’s Office Jane knocked on Dr. Beauvais’s door and Dr. Beauvais answered, “Please come in.” As they sat down, Jane said with a smile, “Thank you. How are you doing, Dr. Beauvais?” The counselor asked, “I’m doing well, Jane. How about you?” Jane smiled and replied, “I’m doing well too, thank you.” The counselor smiled, “I’m glad. You’ve been busy… I haven’t seen you in a bit. Thought I was going to have to track you down again.” Jane laughed, “Well, I’ve been loosely checking in with you for all these tests and stuff, figured that was kind of enough… then sort of lost track of time… then realized it’d been too long. Honestly, things have been going well. I’ve just been busy. I do need to keep up with these sessions though. They do help as a release. Helps me get my thoughts and priorities in order too. I feel more at ease with myself now. It’s enabled me to focus better in social situations and in work situations too, especially in combat situations.” The counselor smiled reassured, “That’s good to hear. It shows too. Does it apply in high stress situations too?” Jane thought for a bit, “Sometimes; but, I try.” The counselor looked at Jane thoughtfully, “Something bothering you?” Jane considered for a time, “Well, I juke nuked a Superpower. I know it was authorized; but, still… I carried the warhead in, defended it, set the timer and left t there to go off. What does that make me?” The counselor replied, “Someone who follows orders in times of extreme pressure. The psychological scrutiny and testing they usually put people through to go in nuclear silos, nuclear bombers, nuclear subs, etc. is intense and you did it cold with no special preparation for this type of operation.” Jane considered the counselor’s words carefully, “I suppose you’re right. Thank you.” The counselor looked at Jane, “Will you be okay?” Jane replied, “I suppose so. Thank you for your suppose with the Psi-lab project.” The counselor nodded again, “See you sooner this time?” Jane replied, “Sure thing, Doctor Beauvais. Thank you. Take care.”

Doctor Wagner's weekly e-mail.
FROM: DR. KIMBERLY WAGNER, X-COM RESEARCH LEAD TO: MEMBERS, ALPHA TEAM CC: MICHAEL GARRET, GRACE THELON BELUCA, AGENT INISE DRAKE RE: Research/Manufacturing Progress Report The base attack mission had its hiccups, but we got what we needed. Research of the Muton Commander should be given top priority. The Avenger experimental craft has been completed and is undergoing preliminary flight testing. There is only one thing keeping us from launching the final mission to attack the alien Mars base. Our Elerium-115 supplies have been dwindling in recent weeks, and due to the decline in alien activity we have not been able to replenish our supply. We will need an infusion of new Elerium before we can launch our attack. Expect a new briefing soon as we explore our alternatives; until then, all Elerium-based activities and projects are on standby mode. Research and manufacturing activities will not be affected unless our supply of Elerium drops to a level insufficient to power our main reactor. Research Priorities (36 points total): Completed Research:
- Laser Weapons: Research complete. Laser pistols may be constructed.
- Laser Rifle: Research complete.
- Laser Cannon: Research complete. Laser Defense may be constructed.
- Plasma Cannon: Research complete. All future interceptors will be equipped with this weapon. Plasma Defense may be constructed.
- Motion Scanner: Research complete. Improved Motion Sensor has been completed.
- Heavy Weapons Platforms: Research complete. Laser Tanks may be constructed. Plasma Tanks may be constructed.
- Alien Medicine: Research complete. The new Medical Lab will produce at least twelve medikits per week. Dr. White reports that when the lab is involved in research projects, such as alien autopsies, the rate of production will slow. Further upgrades may come from research into alien life forms.
- Elerium-powered Biogenesis Unit: Project complete. Increases Medikit output by 50% or more.
- Advanced Medical Production Interface: This upgrade uses alien computer technology and information from the captive Floater Medic to improve the efficiency of our Biogenesis unit. While not affecting base medikit production, this improvement allows one engineer to produce one medkit per week's work, compared to two engineer/weeks at present.
- Alien Alloys: Research complete. Personal Armor is now available for manufacture.
- Psi Lab: Project complete. This lab will enable us to improve our defenses against the alien mental attacks, and may even eventually allow some of our agents to develop any nascent psionic abilities that they may possess.
- Advanced Psi Research 1: Applies newest intelligence from alien data sources. Grants +5 to Psi scores of entire team.
- Powered Armor: Research complete. Helmets have been upgraded to provide resistance from alien psionic attacks.
- Elerium-115 Reactor: Project complete.
- Plasma Pistol: Research complete.
- Plasma Rifle: Research complete.
- Heavy Plasma: A massive alien plasma weapon. (ooc: requires the Exotic Firearms Proficiency feat to use).
- Vibroblade: An alien melee weapon. Research complete.
- Small Launcher: An alien stun weapon. Research complete.
- Blaster Launcher: This devastating weapon launches guided blaster bombs that explode in an incredibly powerful fusion explosion. The blast radius is considerable, and friendly fire must be a consideration. This weapon cannot be reloaded and once discharged can be discarded. We cannot reproduce this weapon with our current technology.
- Chryssalid Countermeasure: Our Biological Sciences team has produced a serum.
- Regenerative Serum 1: Based on data taken from the Russian base, these serums temporarily grant field agents regenerative abilities, but with mild to moderate side effects. Future upgrades may be possible.
- Alien Grenade: These explosives are based on a biochemical agent combined with a tiny amount of Elerium-115.
- Sectoid Prisoner: Research complete.
- Snakeman Soldier: Research complete.
- Floater Navigator: Research complete.
- Floater Medic: Research complete.
- Floater Engineer: Research complete.
- Sectoid Leader: Research complete.
- Snakeman Navigator: Research complete.
- Snakeman Leader: Research complete.
- Ethereal Leader: Research complete. Psionic research tree opened.
- Alien Navigation: Research complete.
- Alien Power Supply: Research complete.
- Sectoid Autopsy: Research complete.
- Snakeman Autopsy: Research complete.
- Floater Autopsy: Research complete.
- Reaper Autopsy: Research complete.
- Chryssalid Autopsy. Research complete.
Current Projects: All current projects completed. Available Projects:
- Advanced Medikit 3: Improves efficiency of current medikits.
- Regenerative Serum 2: A more potent version of the serum.
- Psi-Amp: Doctor Beauvois and Grace Beluca have put together a plan for a device that will allow X-COM field agents to amplify psionic energy, granting them abilities similar to Sectoid commanders and Ethereals. This device can only be used by individuals with advanced Psionic Potential scores that have trained in the Psi-Lab.
Current Prisoners held in Alien Containment:
- Muton Commander.
- Snakeman Engineer.
Note that we sent some of our prisoners on to the off-site secure containment facility, when preliminary interrogations indicated that they were not likely to have any useful information. Manufacturing Priorities (36 points)
- Research Capacity: Research Labs 1-3 are fully operational.
- Medical Capacity: the Medical Lab is fully operational.
- Manufacturing Capacity: Workshops 1-3 are fully operational. HQX's research and manufacturing capacity cannot be expanded further, but additional infrastructure improvements may be possible at a later date.
- Base Defense: Missile Defense, Laser Defense, and Plasma Defense have been completed. Current base defense factor: 84
- Laser Pistol: Nine units have been constructed. Units may be constructed with an integrated VDU targeting system (+3 engineer-weeks per unit).
- Laser Rifle: One unit has been constructed.
- Motion Sensor: Two units have been constructed.
- Personal Armor: Six suits have been constructed. Helmets have been upgraded to resist mental attacks. Units may be constructed with stealth augmentation (+4 engineer-weeks per unit)
- Powered Armor: Five suits have been constructed. Armor has been upgraded to Mark 2, which is 20% lighter.
- Plasma Cells: Ammunition for the alien plasma weapons can be constructed, requiring Elerium-115.
- Medikit: Current level: Advanced Medikit 2. Doctor White's medical lab can construct twelve of these kits each week without compromising our manufacturing capacity. If you wish to dedicate additional resources to the project, the kits can be produced at a faster rate. With the new Advanced Production Interface online, each additional engineer dedicated to medikit production produces +1 medikit/week.
- Advanced Surgical Kit: An advanced field intervention kit that can stabilize and restore a dying soldier. (ooc: Raise Dead)
- Regen Serum 1: Briefly stimulates the body's natural healing powers to amazing levels.
- Chryssalid Countermeasures: An injectable compound that destroys an implanted embryo.
- Heavy Weapons Platform: Plasma Tanks may be manufactured. It takes three engineer-weeks to repair a damaged HWP.
- HWP Repair Kit: These repair kits can only be used on HWPs and require about twice the resources of a medikit to construct.
- Experimental Heavy Armor: Exceptional protection, but requires the Heavy Armor Proficiency (or the armor penalty ring) to use.
- Ablative Armor Shielding: Personal Armor Upgrade. Adds 5 Positive Energy resistance in exchange for a -1 Armor Check penalty. Note that this upgrade is already included in the X-COM Powered Armor.
|
| All previous projects have been completed, and the full research and manufacturing staff are ready to be assigned to new tasks.

- Psi-Lab: This lab will enable us to improve our defenses against the alien mental attacks, and may even eventually allow some of our agents to develop any nascent psionic abilities that they may possess.
Current Projects: - Experimental Heavy Armor [30] : Exceptional protection, but requires the Heavy Armor Proficiency (or the armor penalty ring) to use.
Available Projects: - Laser Pistols [5/8/3] : 9 (regular: Buzz, Baron & 1 missing (Yeren?); VDU +1: Allen, Vasily, Yeren, Hadrian, Soheil & Catalina) ; (upgrade: integrated VDU (+1 attack) that can also be made at +3 engineers per week
- Laser Rifles [10] : 1 (Jane) (they come equipped w/ +2 laser-sighted scope standard, Jane has one)
- Stun Rods [5] : 3 (Vasily, Soheil, Hadrian) stun aliens for capture
- Motion Scanners [10] : 2 (Catalina & Jane)
- Improved Motion Sensors [10+] : 1+ (Catalina) improvements in range and resolution, sensor hooked into the helmet’s VDU’s, providing a chance at identifying unseen aliens picked up by the sensor.
- Heavy Weapons Platforms : Laser Tanks: 0 ; Plasma Tanks: 0 [10 to produce, 3 to repair, 7 to upgrade]
- HWP Repair Kit [6] : 0 - These repair kits can only be used on HWPs and require about twice the resources of a medikit to construct.
- (come free w/ armor) Helmets have been upgraded to resist alien psionic attacks (+2) and integrated with VDU’s. (Stealth +2 VDU Helmets w/ Gas Masks)
- Personal Armor [10/14/4] : 6 (regular: Vasily, Allen, Yeren; Stealth (+2) (Stealth +2 VDU Helmets w/ Gas Masks): Catalina, Jane, Hadrian); (upgrade: armor can also be treated to be a (+2) stealth suit at +4 engineers per week)
- Powered Armor [15] : 6 (regular: Soheil, Vasily, Mary; Mk2 (80% weight) : Jane, Hadrian, Dr. Allen) ; laser packs can be left behind, when worn; 2 Russian-model suits retrieved (inferior to ours though); Powered Armor cannot be made into stealth suits
- Ablative Armor Shielding: Personal Armor Upgrade. Adds 5 Positive Energy resistance in exchange for a -1 Armor Check penalty. Note that this upgrade is already included in the X-COM Powered Armor.
- Plasma Cells: Ammunition for the alien plasma weapons can be constructed, requiring Elerium-115.
- Medikit [1] : Current level: Advanced Medikit 2.
- Regenerative Serum 1 [2] : Based on data taken from the Russian base, these serums temporarily grant field agents regenerative abilities, but with mild to moderate side effects. Future upgrades may be possible.
- Chryssalid Countermeasure [2] : Our Biological Sciences team has produced a serum.
- Advanced Surgical Kit [10 engineers or 5 medikits] : 1 (Dr. Allen) ; Resuscitate patients (ooc: one-shot Raise Dead)
So the suggested list is: Research:Manufacturing: - Experimental Heavy Armor [30] : Exceptional protection, but requires the Heavy Armor Proficiency (or the armor penalty ring) to use.
Research Round One 1 Muton Commander [20] What’s next? Psi-Amp [30] Regenerative Serum 2 [20] Alien Medicine 3 [20] Snakeman Engineer [10] Manufacturing Round 1 Experimental Heavy Armor [30] (for Vasily) (plus Jane's craft mech +17 & repair 17) What else? Regenerative Serum 1 (?) Medikits (?) Plasma Tank (?) HWP repair kit [6] An Advanced Surgical Kit for Mary to replace the one she used on the Muton Commander? [10] Round 2 Experimental Heavy Armor [30] (for Dr. Allen) (plus Catalina – Knowledge Tech 15 or Disable Device 20) (plus Vasily – Demolitions 16, Craft: Chemical 6) (plus Mary – K/ Life Sciences & Craft Pharma 14) (plus Jim – Treat Injury around 20 & K/Life Sci & Craft Pharma around 13)

"Oh you've never seen anything like it!" Despite the rush and fuss around her, Catalina was seen to be relatively upbeat. The increased stress of preparations not seeming to dent her energy as she described the mission to a fascinated Jarvis over breakfast. "It was different to anything I've seen here on earth. Lot's of greenhouse type places with weird plants in. The light was really red and the soil too, an hot? Did I ever need a shower when we got back." "Confusing place too, I got turned around once myself and nearly lost the team. A good job Wasn't altogether sure of the way out, either. In fact I had to go back for the Doc and Jane when they got left behind setting the bomb." A broad grin lit her face. "Fortunately Vas and Hade had shown me the way out by then. Must be some special forces training in how to find your way out of a hostile base while carrying a hostage." "Those psi powers were something else too, you should have seen Mary blast that....." Catalina stopped as her xPhone beeped, and pulling it out she read the email. "Now we have a big decision. We need to get those co-ordinates out of the big bad fella, and I might be able to help out a little there, but given how we soaked up the medical supplies on the last mission the option on researching a little further into those looks very appealing." "Really not sure what we should focus on first." Catalina pursed her lips, "Of course there's the psi amp too, which would be neat, but from what I'm told Jim might have the same talent as Mary, and Jane is close to mastering it. So there's only likely to be Hade who could use it soon, and he's not exactly keen on this whole mind power thing." She shook her head. "No it has to be medical, not that. The only question is what's the priority while we look for more Elerium?" "Getting Vas some armour as soon as possible is a no-brainer." She shook her head and Catalina's face took on an expression of disbelieving amusement. "The way he went toe to toe with that big monster was unbelievable, even Hade had to back off. I had a gun ready thinking. 'Vas's going to go down any time now,' but he didn't. Couldn't get a strike in though, Hade shooting the thing and stabilising it was definately for the best in the end. I digress there, but if Vas is going to be a walking barricade then he should be as reinforced as one." "Whatever happens, we have to focus on medical supplies with every spare man until we go after them. We've no idea what we'll face out there, cut off from any facilities and with the rest of the planet reliant on us." Catalina grinned at Jarvis. "I'd rather like to come back ... alive, even if it means carrying pack full of medical supplies each."
