Dinner with Maylor

The old wizard has appointed the goblin's lair quite lavishly. It's quite homey, actually. The table is a bit small, but he offers you steaming plates of delicious food. After eating nothing but fish for nearly 2 months the plate of mutton and steamed carrots is perhaps the tastiest food you have ever eaten.

He seems quite happy to see you, and excitedly explains how his has come to find the party. When he finds out that John and Thorsvald and the others are down by the raft, he sends his weasel sidekick to fetch them.

He then tells you how he has come from Oerth, not just to rescue the lost party from the Raft, but he is also still investigating some secret goings on in his home city. It's hard to follow him. He tends to prattle on as if everyone around him knows what he's talking about, but this much is clear:

He wants the party's help figuring out what's going on, and he suspects it would be easier and safer to investigate from within the mound than it would be from outside it. He seems very afraid of the Wizards Guild and the King.

He has a map of the queen's realm back in his lab (in his realm, Oerth).

He has a portal nearby that will take him home, but he doesn't want the authorities in the city finding out about it.

He believes the realm is doomed, and he wants to evacuate as many of the creatures of the realm as he can.

He prattles on, barely touching his food. The party eats ravenously, mopping up every last drop of gravy with bread (except for Healin, of course, the badger, who simply licks his plate clean) before interjecting some long overdue questions...
