Addons and Redirection from Manage Campaign page
Return To Top

This is odd, but it seems to happen no matter what machine I connect from, so the common denominator is the page. It doesn't look like this is wide spread, as no one else is experiencing it, but I have a feeling my personal campaign page has been hit somehow. I can can't find any other explanation for it so far.

When I go to Manage My Campaign the page now attempts to install Active-x control add on, something it has never done up until a little while ago, and opens up the MSOffice auto installer. However, when I cancel all of the installation boxes that arise from it I eventually get redirected to a seemingly random advertisement page.

I've been able to create a game and invite players by selecting those options, and then cancelling the installation boxes, which prevented the redirection somehow. The problem is it's hit the character format of the page which means I can't add in new players as I can't select the group. This then crashes my browser part way through the process.

The only solution from my end seems to be to delete the campaign and start again, a nuisance as I will lose all the threads from there. This is what I plan to do, but thought I should let someone know about the issue.

Okay, My AV updated since the last post and it looks like this is a virus issue again. I went to my Manage My Campaign page and on top of the previous activity I now got this from my AV:

McAfee has automatically blocked and quarantined an infected file on your computer. You can restore quarantined files from the Restore pane in SecurityCenter.

About this Trojan
Detected: Generic Downloader.o (Trojan)
Quarantined From: C:\Documents and Settings\\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\J4V40LFQ\08053[1].htm

I stress this is not happening on any other part of the site, at least not for me, just the campaign page. The forums seem free from issues now, but it looks like there's a new target. I'm deleting my campaign page but if it's happened once it can happen again?

Edit: Campaign deleted and the option is now working perfectly as a new campaign, so I'm guessing it was in the personalised data for my own stuff somewhere.

I haven't been able to get the manage campaign option to work correctly either. I was hoping it would just get fixed, but it sounds like deleting and recreating the campaign is the fix.

I have the same issue; keeps redirecting me to a google-esque search page looking for debt consolidation sites.

Running virus scan and restarting campaign seems to have helped, though.

I've been able to get to my campaign page, but I get funny characters. Then again, I use Opera and I have JavaScript turned off for this site due to the virus issues.

Mine locked up until I cancelled the installation pop ups, GW. Clicked on delete then had to stop all of those happening. Maybe if you temporarily enable the javascripts, etc, you can do that?

When I click on delete campaign, it threatens to delete my forums as well.... That would suck. Maybe I'll just leave it up and use the Members invite page.

Yup, you lose all forums Although your game templates and any created games seem to remain. I had no choice though, as mine wouldn't let me add new members.

I'd rather not enable Javascript, VM, due to the issues you've been mentioning. I wouldn't doubt that part of the site is still infected.

Yeah, the site is still infected. My wife got a trojan horse warning, delete.exe FWIW. I told her to use Safari...

"Manage my campaign" page still infected.

It would be very nice to get this fixed.
