Recap

Well... I guess I can head things up again, as no one else has come forward to do so.

Based on earlier posts....

Dates - NWCon 5 will run from Fri Oct 30 thru Sun Nov 1.

Theme - Halloween/Horror.

Logo - Tar mentioned he'd be up for working on one.

Slogan/Motto - None suggested as of yet.

PR - Skunkeen's offered to help/lead on this. I've already posted a very preliminary announcement with the above dates on NWN1/NWN2 Bioware forums.

A number of folk have expressed willingness to run events or help out with IRC.

I'll start a couple of threads to get things going on some specific NWCon issues.

on Halloween might be hard for me and the next day I might also be hung over , have a new tattoo and three ugly witches in my bed.

but I can still setup PR stuff and help folks set up events , contests and showcases.

I can handle setting up prizes and making sure they all get shiped also , Kinda became my job last year also at the last minute.

I will organize with the events ahead of time to issue stuff out and then these folks give me the winners info to ship too.

Obsidian is sending me a team signed game of Storm of Zehir to give out. (I kinda want to keep that as bad as the Atari NWN Sword givin away last year. *prays for two boxes*)

the Halloween date might work out ok since the majority of our community are adults , maybe do trick or treating with kids or stay at home and give out candy in the USA. not alot of other countries ive heard rock out for Halloween.

I would rather someone else keeps track of the events and times and get them onto the website.

Ok thanks for stepping to fill those spots.

I don't Halloween should prove that difficult. we're running three days after all, so if folks can't be there one period, they can show up in another

There's ongoing work on the website by some folk, so I think one or more of them may be able to handle that aspect of it. I'll contact them and see what's what with that.

here is a NWN2 PWcon I am thinking of taking part with also to help it takes place in augest. it would greatly help and prepare the NWN2 community PWs to showcase their gameworlds for NWCon5 also in October. I think it would be a good idea if we tried to support even if just showing up it also unlike other extra online con suggestions ive heard before from folks.

I just came over here to ask if there were any plans for a Con this year.

Since we have a little more notice this year, ToM (NWN2) might be able to organize some open events. I'll bring it up and see what we can come up with.

Yes, we're in the process of getting organized atm.

As listed in the thread, the plan is to run the last weekend of Oct, Oct 30 thru Nov 1.

We'd welcome any and all willing to pitch-in and help

We'll definitely hold a few open events to go along with the horror theme. What else is needed? We have few enough active DMs, but I'm sure that we can find some way to pitch in if you let us know what you need.

Greetings!

I've been out of the loop a while myself, but I'd like to get in on a NwN Con. I wouldn't mind trying to pitch in with a couple of one-shots or something.

Is there something else that needs to happen?

We'd welcome any and all game session folks would like to host. Although it's over 3 months away, you're welcome to start formalizing ideas you might have for sessions. We have a thread in the DM forum which outlines how to post games for the con, and a sample posting for the competition I'll be running. You can post some general info now and make it more specific later if you wish as well. Ideally, I'd like to see folks planning to host get thing finalized no later than a month before so we can crank up the PR in the final weeks. Earlier is always better though

Are you sure choosing a holiday is a good idea? You may well loose a LOAD of players that way.

Just my 2 cents. Spend it wisely.

I think the holiday's a pretty good idea, personally. Other than Christmas and the drinking holidays, I've generally seen an increase in players on those days. That's just my experience, your own mileage may vary.

Halloween isn't a national holiday in the sense that people have a day off or a long weekend. While it's true some may attend a party, that's only one nite out of the three we've planned, so don't see a problem with that myself.

I allowed a week or more to pass after I posted the suggested date initially, and got no negative feedback on it and a number of favorable responses. The date is set at this point, so debate on that is mooot.

The PW Realms of Annakolia would be happy to host some events for DMs and players.
  • Perhaps a demo of the new DM System Tools (DMST).
  • A couple of one shot games
I have put the dates on my calendar so I will be sure to have it off from work.

Halloween is not just one night around here. Everyplace vies to get customers in for their big event and the thing tends to spill over a couple nights prior here. Couple that with drinking - it has become a party holiday really, and you've got ppl hung over too. I hope you get a good turnout but - it would not be my choice as holidays are holidays and there are many other weekends to choose from. Still, it is your foot, here's the gun - take good aim. *puts fingers in ears and looks away*

Be well. Game on.

That would be very much appreciated I'm sure.

And actually ODA, Halloween night tends to be a very popular night to game around here historically, and on many PW's I've played on. The largest party I ever GM'ed was on a Halloween night. 18 players... gods what a night.

I need to step down from this years PR public relations but I can still handle organizing the prizes with the NWNP connections weve made.

Going to be super busy with too many other projects to give NWC more this year.

Someone else please jump on this so I dont feel bad please, I will make time to help you improve things better then last year. It will take time and you will have to make alot of contacts in and out of the NWN community.

Appreciate all who've expressed support thus far.

We need to settle on a slogan/motto, logo/artwork and fill some key admin staff slots, so we can start moving forward.

If you're thinking of running an event, please indicate so as well. You can flesh out details as we get closer and you have firmed up your plans.

Please address each of these questions in the respective forums.

Thanks

Tales of Moonsea (NWN2) will be hosting several open events. While we have quite a bit hashed out on our DM forums, we won't be posting a schedule until closer to game time. Don't want to let on to too many secrets... :

EDIT: Wrong thread, it seems. Sorry.
