And just a reminder to those running events, historically you get most of your sign ups in the last 5 minutes before the game.

Last year I actually had two people join who hadn't even signed up. So, don't despair over low sign ups, it's normal.

If only they could with D20!

Supplying a character before hand is pretty much the only way to go. The reason I have an application only game and not an open one is because of that. I tried local vault and the conversion never seems happy with it for some reason. I suppose it should be emphasised.

Heh. While I did have a couple of co-players from BSL mention that they had a campaign going on Thursdays (which I'd forgotten about), my previous plans for the weekend got moved to that Thursday night. So while I'm hoping the Sunday time slot allows for more folks to join in the mayhem, it was more a move of necessity for me.

One Week to go

Folks, we're about a week away from the con.

Those of you still mulling over hosting events, please seriously consider posting them in the next few days, so we have time to add them to the con page to maximize exposure.

Thanks

EVENTS FOR NWC5...

I added some scheduled events for the dates of the convention - please feel free to add them to any convention related listings.

NOTE - I could not find the format requested for such items, I know I've seen it around here somewhere, but it is not easy to find.

Yeah, I originally had my d20 game listed as application only too, but I opted for lots of warnings instead. We'll see which system works better.

The requested title template info, found in the DM forum NWCon 5 thread, is as follows...

NWC5-(version)-(type)-(event title)

Suggested main types:

C - Contest - Players competing for top score.
G - Game - typical 1 shot adventure.
P - PW Event - session set in PW.
S- Seminar - 1+ main speakers; 0-15 min Q&A
D - Chat/Discussion - 1+ main speakers; 15 min+ Q&A

Other types?

So a sample entry...

NWC5-NWN1-C-The Pillaging of Waycrest.

Thanks

Karvon - If I'm considering joining the Thursday Waycrest burning and looting ceremonies but I may not make it home in time, should I not sign up until just before? I ask because it'd suck to have it cancelled on lack of interest if it turns out that I'm available. (Also I'll prob back out of the Saturday session I signed up for if I join Thursday's.)

What's the protocol for this kind of thing during the convention periods?

I'd go ahead and sign up; if you can't make it, don't worry about it.

The town's defenders are no slouches, so a direct assault can be painful. Actually, there are a variety of strategies one can attempt to pursue in the mod, giving it a bit of replayability

Ok, I think the Q team wants me to host some sort of 'thing' for NWN Con 5.

I've never participated in one of these events, and don't have a clue what you guys are looking for.

Can you tell me what I need to do, and what you'd like from us?

I assume you're just talking about a chat room discussion of ProjectQ. There's lots of ways to do it, and scheduling can be done by just posting a link to the chatroom here with a day and time. We used to have IRC here, but I think it's buggy now.

You could even do it in a mod built using ProjectQ to showcase the content while having the discussion.

Then use the "schedule a game" link to put it into our calendar.

In a perfect world you'd want to showcase the project in a mod, but it might be a little late for that. Events that require hak downloads usually need to be scheduled at least a little in advance. We've all pretty much got CEP, but a lot of us don't have Q.

The best way you could showcase something like Q would be to write your mod and then use override files to display your new models. That way peeps who've done the download will see your awesome upgrades, but folks who don't can still play and have fun.

For this year, though, unless you have a MP Q Mod lying around, you might want to stick with a chat session.

If you have any kind of demo mod already made up with a few areas showcasing your material, that should suffice IMHO. You can always drop in additional creatures and placeables as desired using DM powers.

I would simply schedule a session, as outlined above with a link to your haks. I think as long as you post the event with 24 notice, and within a time slot which is more readily open to those in US/Europe, you'll likely draw some attendees.

You might also take a look at the current slate of events to minimize overlap with already scheduled stuff, as having your event when nothing else is running, will boost the number of attendees as well.

Hope to see you folks there!

And don't forget to leave links to your download pages both on your event page and in your event forum!

I'm sorry, but we just don't have the time and energy to host anything this weekend. I thought maybe we could do it, but everyone on the team is just exhausted from the work we put into Q last month.

We had 10 days to start and finish our Halloween stuff right on the heels of the 1.1 update. I'm happy we were able to finish it before Halloween.

When we are more prepared, I'll schedule something later. Hope the NWN Con 5 thing goes well.

P.S. - I'd like to mention, Urk, Q has 28,000 files. An override is out of the question.

Might want to edit the first post and add the link to http://www.nwcon.net/ there for convenience.

I'm planning an interview with a team member at around 10 PM PST today. The website's not letting my schedule via the event scheduler for some reason, so posting here.

The interview will be conducted in game and I'll log it for posting later for those unable to attend.
