Guys I hope that this is OK with you. I am going to retire "the pumpkin" after the next session.

* raise shield *

Good luck with the necromancer and all that...

Are you bowing out completely, or are you wanting to swap to a new PC?

Just bowing out of this one but you still got a 6 players strong team there so I hope that the impact will be minimum.

Guys,

In fact I feel a bit guilty about this because I am not sure I did say it upfront.

I will not be around in this campaign due to a time slot matter (can't be in two places at once) and a previous commitment I had made.

I have never left a campaign before and certainly do not plan to make a habit of it.

I will still be in two campaigns DMed by Karvon and another one DMed by LB.

I've done a periodic update of CEP, so please run the updater to insure you're fully matching the current haks before the next session.

I just wanted to say that it's been a joy playing with you all, but I have to bow out as well. Take care and watch out for those devil birds!

Aw, I'm gonna miss the both of you. Sorry you won't be able to stick around. You know we're eventually going to get inside that locked hidden door and whup up on that necromancer.

Take care, hope to see you around.

Sincerely,
Mac

Just found out tonight that my childhood best friend is coming to town around the time of our game.
I'm pretty sure I'll miss this coming week, 7/18.
I'll drop out of the game once I know for sure, Thursday night.

Have one potential player; still looking for one more. If you know anyone who might be interested in joining, have them send me a PM.

It's iffy. I think I'm going to get a call early sunday saying where my friend is. I might be able to play. I'll put something on the game page as soon as I hear from him.

Thieves Tools

Karvon -- can you give me the rundown on these tools again? I find them to be VERY FRUSTRATING to try and use -- really they are spoiling an otherwise good game for me.

I have two "tools" ...

1. An "eyeball" that is used for search -- but thus far it has only detected secret doors. Is it needed to detect traps too?

2. A "funky looking thing" that is used for unlocking doors -- I think (I've never really gotten it to work properly).

I normally run around in the NWN "Search" mode -- I have seen a few traps this way and disarmed them -- but there have been several (such as the last one) that I simply do not "detect" (and I've maxed my skills in these Rogue areas). I'm thinking the NWN "Search" mode is useless and perhaps I should just use the "Stealth" mode ...

But, using those damn tools takes me out of Stealth/Search mode -- truly frustrating to use. (Not to mention it seems silly moving 30' using a tool, moving another 30' using a tool, rinse and repeat ... ugh!)

Please tell me these caves are the only places that need these "special" tools -- I'll "gut" through the caves; however, if this is the "standard" for your campaign then I'll swap back to a straight stick fighter because I don't really want to mess around with these things to "do my job". I'm an "old" dog -- sort of set in my ways ... don't want to learn any new tricks.

I understand your frustration all too well with these tools. I don't like them either. These are not the standard tools and will only be used in this module.

In addition, I've been lately trying to edit doors and traps back to default values, little by little, in areas the party's likely to be each week, so the tools aren't as necessary. I don't always have time to do so, and sometimes I miss a few.

To recap, AFAIK the tools essentially give you a massive bonus to search or unlock for a short period of time. If you hit a door you get a crazy DC on. Then use the tool to open it.

LOL -- heh, that was my modus operandi -- except they go BOOM! if you didn't click the tool first it seems ...

Still not sure what it takes to detect those traps ...

Ok, for the caves; I'll grit my teeth and "gut it out" -- hope we find that Necro soon though.

I will not be able to play this coming Sunday, August 15th. My daughter in law's baby shower is that day.

I should be able to make the week after, Aug 22nd game.

I'll have to skip this weeks game on the 15th as well. I've some people calling to the house on Sunday so I'll be tied up. Sorry about that.
