Eye of the Serpent Intro

The party is traveling thru the Sword Mountains along an isolated stretch of the road on their way from Neverwinter to Waterdeep. We'll assuming we met in Neverwinter and agreed to travel together for mutual protection to the larger city where more opportunities for work and adventure might present themselves.

Feel free to post whatever info about your PC the rest of the party might have gleaned over food, drink and trudging along the road together for several days.

The tall, dark haired male tugs his armor to settle it, checking the hand and a half sword on his back under a large shield. He had come from Icewind Dale, making his way down the coast every day since leaving. While normally quiet, he would voice his opinions on matters, or speak up to tell a story of a battle (most often flourishing and imitating his words, while exaggerating much).

He knew not the meaning of the word fear, nor that of the word common sense and good judgment, at least so his actions seemed to say most of the time. Sometimes he often speaks of unknown lands as if in a dream, prompting some to think that he might have taken a few too many blows to the head.

Still, he made a halfway decent pack mule and was handy in a fight or when heavy lifting was needed.

Aslo kept to himself most of the trip. He was leaving quickly and found the first group heading away from Neverwinter.
He didn't mind the tall warrior with his loud tales of battle and strange lands. He figured the man was probably lying, but he didn't want to draw attention to himself by argueing with him about it.
The others were just companions, safety in numbers was always a good idea. As long as they got away from town quickly, he would have left with a group of necromancers.

The tall stout priest strolled along the steep road at a steady pace, occasionally stopping to enjoy the soaring peaks and vivid blue skies. He often sang joyous hymns of Llira, to pass the time and pace the march. He did his best to cheer up the others and promote a warm atmosphere with a kind word of encouragement or a friendly smile.

The wind was blowing from the East. It was almost dawn. The area was quiet. Was it safe to sleep in that area? Safe enough for now. Adjusting his natural stone pillow the figure turned left, then right but something or someone was getting closer. Friend or foe? It was time to wake up and face a new day.

In the mountains

The party has escaped the roc's nest and wandered up and down the mountainsides as they look for a way out of the wilderness. They've stopped for a brief break under some trees after tangling with some wild plants.

Unable to react swiftly enough, the blind wrestler was taken to an oversized nest by a large predatory bird. Others shared the same fate some alive some dead. For once, he had no choice but to rely on these strangers to escape alive thanks to a rope they had managed to secure. After that it was snow all the way down, wherever that was, followed by a dangerous swamp and an a old tower that could be used as a temporary campsite. From there finding the main road would require a bit of exploration.

As the group took a moment to rest, the dwarf used his time to go over his armor and weapons; stopping on occasion to make minor repairs and adjustments, ensuring each piece performed its intended function without compromise. He had placed a rather large chunk of black leafy material into his mouth; chewing it with a fervor and spitting the dark brown juice into a nearby bush with a splat.

After completing his inspection, and satisfied that nothing further could be done, he carefully donned his armor in preparation to move on. Spitting out the remainder of the leafy material that he had been chewing on, he pulled out a large wineskin, drank heavily, and belched loudly as he replaced the stopper.

Donning his helm he looked toward the others; "Right. I'm all set here. How's about the rest of you?"

The priest smiled and nodded.

Yes, my friends, we've made commendable progress, even if we've circled around a bit. Nothing wrong with getting a good understanding of the lay of the land, eh?

Aslo trudges along with Sam, helping to guide him through the terrain. Aslo keeps to himself, not offering any advice or information. Seems he is feeling guilty about the lizardman.

Going in large circles? Somehow they had dropped or lost those precious sticks. They went around the swamp up the mountain again, up, down, up, down but found no road or anything. Under such dire circumstances the blind wrestler could only follow his companions. It was easier in the snow given the noise they were making. There was that icy cave with some big cave with snake like creatures. That was something to remember perhaps...

After a bit of backtracking the party found its way further down the mountain, passing thru goblin caves and into a swamp. Now they are camped on the far edge of the swamp.

Sam was now convinced that he was in no way a burden. After all he could smell things, hear things and sense things in a way nobody in the group could surpass. Now if only he could convince Jered to stop being such a weakling.

"Where are we going now?"

Darick looked around the campfire at his three companions: a human priest, a blind half-orc monk (or so he guessed) and a dwarven fighter. The dwarf and the human did well in battle, but he wasn't sure what he thought about the half-orc. He had heard tales of how monks have inner sight, but this one stumbled around like he was truly blind. Hell, Darick thought to himself, even he could sometimes tell where things were by the sounds they made. Ah well, at least the half-orc didn't get any funny ideas about being able to shoot. If he did, Darick wasn't about to stick around to find out if he hit anything.

The smell in the sewers was overwhelming so for the moment Sam could only rely on the sounds enemies would make and would they be close enough his ability to fight things one could not see...

"Kobolds and giant leeches. That's why they are sending us. They need no hero to do this 'dirty work'. We are just the sewage cleaning crew."

"So, I still suggest we head further in before messing with any levers that might release more of the foul undead."

Something below the prison? That was really strange.

The blind wrestler was still exploring the sewers looking for drows? and what not and collecting various trinkets. There was still no way out.

OOC

I may not have a machine for a few days so I may have to skip this and possibly the next session.
