Not sure this is a bug but...

I posted a "Private" topic in the game forum containing connection info.

It showed up as private post on the game page, but even though I was of course the author and a member of that event I could not open it directly from there. I was a little confused. After the game when I actually went in to the forum from the "My events" section of this page I discovered I could indeed get into the topic. Just not by directly clicking on it in the game page.

Like I said not sure it is a real bug, but it was a wee bit confusing the first time around.

Question: Could you not open it because it wasn't even a link? Or after cliking on it it said private?

There was no link at all.

It just said Private Post with no link.

Here is the gamepage if that helps

http://www.neverwinterconnections.com/games/index.cfm/fuseaction/displaygame/id/10249.htm

Not sure what the other game members saw. I reposted it as a normal topic after my confusion.

It should be working now. Let me know if it does not. Also, you might make sure all of your players can see it and make sure that all of your C0-DMs can see it.

It seems fixed

My Co-DM, myself, and at least one player can now see and access all 3 posts from the gamepage.

Thanks Rizzen!

Redirect - but different

Rizzen,

I noticed this while migrating our Roleplay Thread (Birthright of the North). When I modify a post on Page One and click Submit, I get redirected to Page Two of the thread.

It's not a big deal, but as long as we're tracking issues, I thought I'd mention it.

Thanks! - J'Dai

Post Length

Rizzen,

Also, while moving our RP thread, I had a post that I could not move. I was getting errors and sent to the http://wwwX.rpgwarehouse.com page (so I knew something was up).

The other posts worked fine, so I am wondering if it was due to the post's length? I skipped it, rather than breaking it apart (no big deal), but wanted to mention this.

I think it was the posts length. I am trying to find out the maximum length a post can be and restricting to that.

Campaign Forums

Rizzen,

The campaign forum feature looks good.

However, I somehow have three of them! My campaign forums duplicated themselves perhaps because I used my browser back key and tried to edit the description.

The correct one is the one with a post.

That is fixed now... the bug and the number of forums you had.

Not sure if this is a bug, but it looks like one
Return To Top

Hi Rizzen,

Yeah, software bugs are like art sometimes.

Anyhow, I am in a game with Ghool (S1-Tomb of Horrors). When I look at the NEW forums, it correctly displays the last post by Skeeneyman at 7:45 AM today. When I look at the game site, the 'box' with the NEW forum info shows that Phelonious had the last post with the same date and time. If you look at the thread, there is nothing from Phelonious.

- ALSO -

If I click on Phelonious's name from the link in the NEW forum box on the game site, it goes to a page that looks like a generic player screen. It has the name cleared out and no statistics.

I know this may be a timing thing with games that were scheduled before the NEW forums were unveiled. That's why I'm not sure if either of these items are worthy of the bug designation.

Is this on the game page itself? or after you click in to the forum from the game page? If it is on the game page itself that lists the person who started the thread and not who last posted...

Well, OK - that confused me. The name is the thread starter, but the day/time is for the last post and could be anyone.

I guess I'll have to work on my literacy skills. *wink*

Not sure if this has come up already, but I was going to move stuff from the old forums to the new tonight.

Found that I was getting errors on submitting the posts, possibly due to length?

Any way of knowing/finding out what the maximum post size is if so?

With relation to my specific issue, its not a problem, I'll just start a new thread from where relevance picks up but size limits on posts could be a factor people run into, so it'd be nice to know if this is indeed a potential problem

Yes, its a length issue. I'm trying to find the maximum length on MSSQL a text field can be, but so far no luck. I'll keep looking though .

MYSQL text field length.

Think this might be what you area looking for ?
TEXT
A BLOB or TEXT column with a maximum length of 65535 (2^16 - 1) characters. See section 13.2.5.1 Silent Column Specification Changes. See section 11.3.2 The BLOB and TEXT Types.

http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Column_types.html

Might not be advisable to index that field

I cannot imagine the people having this problem have had more than 65535 characters in their documents. I am wondering if instead it is the ODBC Linux driver that is limiting the amount of text that can be sent to the database.... Hmm.

I might just have to impose a lower limit myself (educated guess) and go from there.

The maximum size of a BLOB or TEXT object is determined by its type, but the largest value you can actually transmit between the client and server is determined by the amount of available memory and the size of the communications buffers. You can change the message buffer size (max_allowed_packet), but you must do so on both the server and client ends. See section 7.5.2 Tuning Server Parameters.
