Question Considering Feats

OK I know this is a stupid question, but its been bothering me since I get mixed answers and I have been unable to get a answer. I could probably mess around in the game and figure it out myself, but I like to know for sure from those more knowledgeable about this stuff.

My question is simple. Would a fighter using the ambidexterty and two weapon fighting feats lose the modifiers to the attack rolls(I think it was the attack roll and not damage that it modifies unsure) when they are wearing medium or heavy armor?

The reason I am asking is because I know rangers loose theirs(even though its not exactly the same) when they wear anything heavier then light armor, and was curious if a fighter(or any other class for that matter) who actually takes the two feats separate would lose them like the ranger.

No, they wouldn't lose the modifiers, IMO.

From the D&D 3E rulebook under the Feat description of Ambidexterity: "A ranger wearing light armour or no armour can fight with two weapons as if he had the feats Ambidexterity and Two-Weapon Fighting."

I take this to mean that the armour thing is only applicable to rangers, since they fight as if they had these feats under light/no armour conditions. A fighter that has taken the feats would retain the full benefits of the feats regardless of the armour they are wearing, as indeed would a ranger who took the feats.

I could be wrong in my interpretation, plus NWN isn't exactly the same as the Rulebook, so that's an educated guess, really . Edit: Thought I'd best just check out the NWN manual, and I can't see any reference to armour type in the feat descriptions. Maybe it doesn't apply in NWN...?

Either way, the penalty is to attack rolls.

Dual wielding is the Ranger ability that ACTS as if the player had Ambi and 2-weapon fighting if the character is wearing light armor or less.

IF a fighter spends the feats he can dual in plate if he wants,

OK thanks. That is what I thought, but I had a few people tell me otherwise. I just wanted to be sure that way if I get in an argumentive mood(not likely but it happens) I am right when I argue with them. lol

I played around with some multi-class character builds the other day, and it's perfectly possible to dual class ranger-fighter, and take ambiodexterity and two weapon fighting feats on your fighter level ups, even thought they're "granted" to the ranger.
Furthmore, it would appear that it's impossible to do improved two weapon fighting without taking the feats as a fighter (But I'm not completely sure on that one)...
You should understand however, that even though you may weild two weapons in full plate mail with improved two weapon fighting as a fighter or whatever, that's not really that interesting since it'll mean sacrificing a rather large dexterity bonus to your armor class(...as far as I recall, just getting abiodex and two weapon fighting takes 15 dex...it may be lower, though).

Either way, I came to the conclusion that you end up not getting much advantage of the full plate, so if you wanna do this it's gotta be for the role playing appeal.

Oh, and this is my post, yay for joining this community!
