Edomakath

Several years ago, as I was yet still a little boy, our village was pillaged by a group of raiders from the Aunoroch desert. That day, not many of us survived. My whole family was killed, or so I’m told. I never saw their bodies myself but, after all these years, the chance of ever meeting either my dad, my mom or my sister is pretty slim. As most of you can imagine, that day was very important for me. It brought upon a lot of changes in my life. But unlike what most may think, the most important change of all was not my family’s death; it was my rescue. I was rescued by a group of knights. Had they arrived earlier and stopped the massacre, I probably wouldn’t be today what I have become: a paladin of Lathander.

As the knights forced the raiders to retreat, one of them came and found me. He told me not to be afraid. I asked him why he had come here and I’ll never forget his answer: “Those are the ways of a paladin my son, to protect those in need and to enforce justice all over Cormyr”. He then simply took me into his arms and all I remember from that day and the following ones is sitting on his horse, on my way to what I know now to have been Scornubel. I was then handed over to Josura Hlammel, who I considered my mother from that day forth. All my knight said when I asked him why he had to leave was that other kids like me needed his help.

From that day forth, I knew that I wanted to grow up to be exactly like him. I wanted to help protect those in need, as he had done for me. Josura taught me about Lathander and his teachings while Master Luran taught me the ways of the sword. I feel that after all these years of training I finally feel ready to answer Lathander’s call by ensuring that justice and peace are found all over Cormyr.
