Erahn Highward

Erahn Highward: RANGER 1

Erahn was born the first, and last child of Bregan and Puril Highward. His father Bregan was a Paladin of very little fame and his mother a very minor noblewoman of little wealth. The young family was not wealthy, but neither were they poor.

As a child, Erahn was taught the ways of being a young gentleman and always would show respect and courtesy to everybody he met. He always enjoyed displaying his chivalry and gentlemanly ways because of the praise and attention he received for his actions. He look as though he would follow in his fathers footsteps and become a knight and a gentleman.

Fate decided to make up a different path for Erahn though. As he was coming of age to become a squire, Erahn's father was involved in a scandal that shocked the keep and the community. When the guards came to seize Bregan Highward, Puril attempted to pull a sword from it's scabbard to defend her husband. Unaccustomed to the size and weight of the large weapon, she lost control and wound up piercing herself through the chest as she dropped then fell upon the sword. The chaos and confusion of the situation caused Bregan to lose his self control and any available men that could have assisted in Puril's healing were needed to restrain and remove Bregan from his home. The commotion had drawn Erahn into the room and he saw the blade of the sword dripping with his mothers blood. A servant had also quickly followed Erahn into the room and removed the boy from the house as quickly as he could.

Bregan Highward was able to choose where and with whom his son was raised, knowing that it was unlikely that he would be chosen to squire, Erahn's father asked his old friend Landom of Scardales to watch over the boy and teach him how to care for himself. From the circumstances a better choice couldn't have been made for the young man. Landom was a strong and self-reliant man, he was as comfortable out in the forests hunting as he was sitting close to the fire of his favorite inn. Erahn learned much about the wilderness and forest creatures from living and traveling with Landom. Landom even taught him how to use weapons to defend himself against an animal attack or creatures such as goblins. Although Landom had quite a few swords to choose from, Erahn never used a sword since it conjured up bad feelings deep inside. Just touching the hilt of a sword would give Erahn a chill down his spine, he instead found the hand axe practical and comfortable to use when defending himself. He was so at ease with the hand axe that he often pulls two whenever he is against more than one attacker. Erahn puts on an impressive display of spinning axe blades and Landom has long ago stopped worrying about Erahn during battles.

Erahn is more of a melee type character not an "Archer Ranger"
