If you had to describe Jalil with any one word, it would be wild. She has lived her whole life deep in the woods surrounding Anvid. Her skin is black as pitch and her ears point at the end. She has had very little contact with the civilized world, living out her life happily among the animals. In fact, Marcus had just recently taught her how to speak common. She has since then spent much of her time learning the ways of civilization through Marcus and his friends.
