Le’Mures de Custodiae
“Assemble in the courtyard for finial inspection!” Your squad leader, Axi barks, as you finally clear the gates of Westkeep. Traveling the last leg of your march, three grueling weeks over rough, sometimes enemy infested terrain, has taken its toll on you and your comrades. As the men hastily line up, a soldier wearing the emblem of the priesthood approaches. “Good, the runners have told you I have wounded, he’s over...” Axi’s sentence trails off as he notice whom he are talking to. There be before him, stands a man with stark white hair, dressed in shades of white. A calm composed demeanor radiates from him. Even though you are 15 feet away, his mere presence seems to remove the fatigue you had from being on the road. The stranger notices you staring at him and merely smiles. Looking past Axi, he quickly spots Jerad, who has an injured arm. Without a word he moves to Jarad’s side, gently grabs his arm and starts to utter a prayer to Pelor. Within moments Jarad’s fingers unclench and a look of peace washes over his face. Jarad starts to offer some sort of thanks to him, asking him his name, but the man simply nods and puts a finger up to his lips. As the man leaves you whisper to the soldier next to you, “Hey Semel, who’s the white mute?”. Semel mutters in his helmet, “Oh, that’s just Le’Mures, he’s with the Lemit’s unit, Third Division.” You remember some rumors of the third division’s effectiveness in battle and their uncanny luck during the long march. “That’s not who they call Ghost is it?”. “Yeah, “ Semel mumbles, “that’s him, his real name’s Le’Mures, from the house of Custodiae. I hear the Custodiae family have always been an honor guard for the Church of Pelor. Some say his father is even in the squad that guards the Bishop. The crazy thing is I hear Ghost used his fathers influence in the church and volunteered to join our battalion to Westkeep.” “Quite in the ranks!”, Axi barks. You are dismiss and you and Semel and head to the canteen all the while you are unable to shake the feeling that you’ve just seen someone destined for greatness.
