Daria Johnson
Born into a large farming family somewhere in the Dalelands, Daria was the only daughter in a family dominated by men. Her father died when she was little more than an infant. She lived and grew up with her very protective mother and several brothers who would lovingly pick on her, but also sheltered her from the world around. Her only real joys were infrequent trips to town where there was a small library of books for her to peruse and ocassionally borrow. Through these books she learned of the world around her and it immediately sparked a great desire to travel to these distant lands. One day, tucked away in a far corner of the library she discovered a dusty tome titled "On Magic". The words in this book were strange, but her drive to learn spurred her onward. Eventually, by pestering any traveller who was unlucky enough to pay attention, she learned to decipher the strange language. Over more than 2 years of intense study that followed, Daria discovered that she was able to harness powers described in the book and could cast some simple spells. At one point during her study of the book, one of her elder brothers returned from adventuring in strange lands. The stories he told only stoked her already fierce desire to travel and study abroad. Because of a promise to him she stayed at home for a time. However, shortly before her seventeenth birthday, she learned that her eldest brother had promised her in marriage to a local miller. While she had nothing against the miller, she feared being tied down this small corner of the world. Secretly, in the mid of night, she gathered her books and walked swiftly down the road that led away from town and into her destiny. When considering her ultimate destination, Daria looked at the books she carried. The title of a beautiful blue book caught her eye. It was "Moonshae Islands"
