Tristo Simplefeet, a kender whose home city leads him to recall wonderous stories of beautiful woods and the kindest people, a glorious hidden forest town where his people all lived in perfect harmony and nothing mattered except enjoying a good forest walk, creating new maps and telling exciting stories .
What is the name and location of this place you ask? He couldn't tell you - it was simply 'home'.
A fierce warrior (surprising for a kender but he was dextrous and strong as a mule to boot).. if you ask anyone back home, they would simply tell you that he disappeared one day, off on one of his quests, and never returned. And how they wondered what gruesome fate had swallowed their dear Tristo whole.
The truth was, he was alive and well... well 'well' in a sense. Tristo had managed to vanquish the warlord that he had sought to defeat but in the final battle, the magi unleased the last of his powers and both him and his partner in arms, a dwarf by the name of Dougan Smalltimber were propelled out of the walls of the castle keep and hard onto the ground a serious distance below.
Tristo survived - barely, but his memory of his homeland and his past was lost, only that remained was his skills and his name. His friend Duggy - who unfortunately did not survive the fall, stayed to help his friend regain his memory, in spirit form. Tristo and Dougan.. while dwarf and kender, had a history that stretched back to Tristo's childhood and the stubborn dwarf would surely not allow this kender to be alone now.
Unfortunately for Tristo, it would not be that simple - not matter how Duggy tried, his words and explanations did not get through to Tristo - it was almost as if his mind was too shaken and damaged by magical means to comprehend. But maybe one day another memory, be it a smell, a piece of music or a face, he will remember everything and his friend Duggy will be released to the next land. And Dougan stays, to watch over his friend and converses with him to ensure he makes it home safely and alive once more.. something he himself did not manage to do.
So for now, here is a kender, travelling place to place to not only earn some money to live day to day but also to remember, to go back to the home and people that he remembers as shadows in some distance corner of the world.
To a stranger, Tristo would seem an amiable very friendly fellow who likes a good story and adventure and even a good fun fight or two. He however will also break out into often animated conversations with his friend 'Duggy' who he believes is still alive and well in this world and is a companion in his travels. No amount of convincing will make Tristo believe that his friend isn't there and nor will he ever seperate with him, but for those adventurers that will deal with this eccentricity, he is a reliable and skillful (and talkative!) friend to have on the journey.
