Ursa is a finesse-fighter who relies more on her footwork (and her sharp mind) to get her out of a sticky situation than brute strength. A pragmatic young woman, she doesn't tolerate melodrama, quibbling, or a whole lot of hesitation, but her laid-back demeanor makes her easy to get along with. While she is good at heart, she's also a mercenary to her core, and will usually insist on being paid or otherwise rewarded for her efforts.
Ursa grew up in an impoverished family in one of those small farming communities where everyone knows everyone else's business. Because her parents were both devoted alcoholics, Ursa was responsible for feeding and clothing herself from an early age. She became accustomed to all sorts of odd jobs, anything that would earn her a coin or bite to eat.
However, she ran away at the age of fourteen when her own father tried to sell her to the tavernmaster to pay off his tab and keep the ale flowing. At first, she provided for herself by the same means she had used all her life, but soon realized that few people outside of her hometown were willing to trust an urchin with even the slightest of tasks. So she turned to one of the only options remaining to her- turning mercenary.
Begging work in taverns she learned of a company called the Silverhands, or simply the Silvers, who were in desparate straights. They had been engaged in a strike-and-run campaign for more than a year, and their numbers were severely depleted. They had put out messages that any who came to bolster them now, and survived until the contract's end, would be accepted into their ranks and trained. Ursa went, and somewhat to her own surprise not only survived but prospered. She remained with the Silvers for several years, until events caused them to go their separate ways. Since then, she has been trying her hand at solo work, whether it be guarding a caravan, discouraging a band of goblins from raiding her hirer, or following up on a tale of a treasure-laden tomb.
This character can be made available at almost any level. She goes on to become a shadowdancer, and a weapon master at very high levels.

One quick word about the stats below (not that anyone ever really looks at them): the alignment stats are out of wack because I ended up having to play a different char in a game Ursa was scheduled for (one that happened to be evil) and so Elegy's reviews went on Ursa's sheet.
