The son of poor hardworking fishermen, Burbur grew up hard and fast. By age 15 he was in such trouble with the law that he was given a choice: go to prison or join the army. The army changed him from a scattered punk who hates rich people to an armed and dangerous thug with a taste for money and adventure. In temperment he is generally pragmatic, quick-witted and amused, but he has a defensive streak that expresses itself as aggression and condescension. He has tattoos on his wrists of a snake eating its tail. Following a recent bad boating experience, he has had his back tattoed with a wave breaking right and left, the mark of Umberlee.He now has a massive scar running from the middle of his left check , across his forehead and back into his scalp.
