It is said that in th early days of the realms, the gods walked on middling doing their will. Among the first people of middling were the Fae, and thy were the favored of all the people. They danced and loved in the wild forests of middling but for one little spriggand this was not enough. He wanted more... more control over his world... more power. So it was that he followed the gods and listened when they spoke the forbidden words of power. When he snuck away with their secrets burning in his head, the first magic spells were cast by mortals. This young sprite carelessly flung his new found power about middling until he caught the notice of the gods. Angered by his insolence the gods cursed him. "Our secrets you have stolen, so shall we take your memory..." And as the youg Fae spoke the words of power they fled from mind, erased from his memory. Many secrets were lost before he realized what had happened. He taught what remained to those that would learn but even they couldnt keep the magic contained within thier minds. They had to write the magic down and relearn it each day. The great, great, great, great, great grandson of that cursed fairy carries on the tradition. Myrth of the family Godstongue puts all his energies into uncovering the secrets that his ancient ancestors once held.
