Was the 3rd son of 2 poor farmers in the south but always showed much more interest in reading and increasing his knowledge than helping with the farming which greatly annoyed his parents until he got a job with an old local wizard who ran a magic supplies shop. The wizard running the shop noticed his talent and said that he should go to the college to gain the training he needed, but his parents were too poor to pay. Eventually the old wizard agreed to pay the extra needed in exchange for a favour he could call upon later, to which Udoril readily agreed. After he completed mage college, where his intelligence made him very successful but his poor background made it hard to be accepted, he was taken on as an apprentice to one of the old masters.
