Amanda Greyson

On the surface, Amanda Greyson was born a nice lifestyle. Her father, Gregory, was a government official and a well respected one at that. Gregory's wife had a poor immune system and although she gave birth to a healthy girl, the pregnacy only made a bad situation worse. She barely managed to live for five years after her daughter's birth. Gregory didn't let the public see his anguish over her death. He hid his despair from the world only revealing it in the privacy of his own home. He began to drink liberally during his fits of depression. This usually led to a burst of rage. He wanted someone to blame for his wife's death and with no one else around, he focused that blame on Amanda. His punishments would range from merely cursing her out to physicially beating her. He never harmed her in public and to the untrained eye, he seemed like a proud father. If he left noticeable wounds, he would rush her to the hospital claiming that her clumsy nature was the cause.

Searching for an escape from her father, Amanda often stayed after school participating in anything that would give her an excuse to stay away from her home. At first, that anything meant initiating fights so that she would get into detention. However, this tactic only fueled Gregory's rage even more. Once she learned that acedamic events would lead to less beatings, she took to as many clubs/organizations as she could. Eventually she came up with a personal theory that her father's punishments were because she wasn't useful to society. She believed that if she exceled in something, she could win her father's love or at the very least become independent from him. As she continued to improve, she decided to focus herself on the medical field and found a campus with living accomedations. Since she paid for her education herself through scholarships and took very few personal effects with her, Gregory never even knew when she left.

Unfortunately during her absence, Gregory had began to miss her presence at home. It wasn't out of concern for Amanda but out of a desire to reclaim his emotional and physical punching bag. He did everything within his power to subtly disrupt her education. Eventually, he managed to get her expelled on a false charge of academic misconduct just days before her graduation. He personally came to the academy and smuggled her out of her dorm room and back home. Although Amanda didn't go quietly, he had already paid the proper people to look the other way. When they got back home, Gregory intended to make up for lost time. He cursed her out and beat her harder than he had ever done before.

Fueled by her brief independence and a fear that she would be killed by her own father, Amanda finally snapped. She found the dexterity to escape his grasp and rushed upstairs to his bedroom. She dug underneath his bed and found his old pistol. Panicked, Amanda pointed the gun at her father and swore that she would shoot him if he touched her again. Gregory cruelly laughed at her. They both knew she had never used a weapon in her life. Furthermore, Gregory hadn't loaded the gun in years. He lunged at her despite the warning. However, they both forgot one thing, there was still one bullet in the chamber. Amanda shot her father through the heart that night.

Once she calmed down, Amanda realized she could no longer stay in their home and any hope for a respectable job was ruined. Even if she had all the expertise of a real doctor as well as some minor work in other fields, she wasn't certified. Furthermore, everyone would assume she was a cold blooded murderer who senselessly killed a wonderful man. With that, she gathered what she needed and left her home for the last time. If she couldn't be a professional through an acedemy, she would become one through experience. She left a note near Gregory's corpse explaining everything and how she wished whatever remained was donated to charity. Yet she had a feeling that her words would go on deaf ears.

Since then, she has been working as a freelance doctor offering her skills to any ship that needs them. This desperation has forced her to work with those not operating on the right side of the law sometimes. Of course, the fear of running into folks worse than Gregory convinced her to train herself in markmanship even if she loathes guns.
