I like playing the support character (eg cleric) in most games. As such I generally try to jump into any role that is not already filled in the party. Of course some times that doesn't work to well.
As for a DM, I'm not the best at doing NPC conversations (I find it difficult to come up with and write good dialogue quickly). If I can plan ahead a little I tend to do OK. My other biggest flaw as a DM is that I tend to be a little too nice to the players.
