Burrie's Details [Statistics Help]
DM Level: 5th, 88.65%
DM Title: Superior Dungeon Master of the Inner Sanctum

Player Experience Points: 2226

My first real experience with RPGing was when I created a very small, simple system called "Heroes of Star Wars"... looking back, it wasn't quite the best of systems. I had absolutely no idea how RPGs really worked.

I learned more about RPGs when I bought the West End Star Wars RPG Rules guide. It was immediately mesmerized by the excellent system of roleplaying, and I managed to play a few games a couple of months later. I was instantly hooked to roleplaying. It's a hobby that I enjoy to peruse in my free time.

As a Dungeon Master, I prefer to look more at the storyline, the PCs and the inhabitants of my world rather than the rules. In that case, NWN is brilliant, all the rule-based gameplay is done behind-the-scenes, and I can spend my time making sure that everything runs fine. Another thing that I especially want to do is make the PCs feel as if they're becoming legends, heroes in their own right. Finally, as a DM, I want to have fun as well. This fun often comes when I lay out the storyline for the characters, when I play the important NPCs, and when I'm devising plans together with the PCs.

As a player, I prefer good-natured PCs, not a broody dark hero or villain. I like to play in party where everyone does try to come together, but if there are troubles within the party, I enjoy to try and keep the group together. For one-shot adventures, I often begin with one of my standard characters, and develop his personality on the fly. If it is for a campaign, I'll flesh them out more. I start with a simple background, and flesh it out more to create a new character. Character development is always mayor plus. Finally, I prefer Role-playing to Hack and Slash. However, H&S can be an excellent way to highten the tension or to change the pace of the game. A full adventure that is nothing more than Hack & Slash isn't my cup of tea tho'.
