I played some RPGs for several years when younger (AD&D, Champions, Traveler, GURPs), but stopped when I went away to college. NWM seems a great way to get back into it, with superb players and DMs from around the world. And now that I have a couple of DM'd multi-player games under my belt, I can't imagine going back to single-player games. My preference is for highly and well roleplayed games where the characters are developed so that they seem like real people, such that others can often realize what they are likely to do before they take (or don't take) action. (And if other players feel the same, not only do I enjoy the game more but I can also learn and improve by observation of them.) Similarly, because my focus is on the roleplaying interplay rather than Diablo-style leveling up and "goodie" collection, I prefer more difficult games where XP, gold and magic is not easily come by. If properly done, obtaining a great (two-handed) sword, a +1 dagger, or even a scroll with a long-sought 1st level spell can be far more exciting for a character than grabbing yet another +3 weapon to add to your collection.
