I'm definitely a fan of the 3rd edition D&D rules and am old enough to remember the 1st and 2nd editions as well. Like a typical pen and paper role player I've been through most of the major RPGs out there as well as chimping up some home brewed variants...some more successful than others.

I bought NWN 12 months ago, played the main modules and then stopped, I liked the game and the environment and it prompted me to try some of the MMORPG's out there. Enthusiasm fired up I dipped a toe in the water with games like EQ and AC2 but found them to be too hack and slash: there were too many "l33t h4x0rs" for my liking and given that I'm 34 (old man by many on-line game standards) possibly not best suited to them. So I'm back to NWN and am very interested in the idea of single campaigns at first, perhaps longer term persistent games later.

I'm also interested in DM'ing and hosting dungeons on a permanent server (my current job has considerable compensations in that department), but would like to try out as a player first and take it from there. It would be a shame to waste all that lovely bandwidth though :-)))

As for characters I've always favoured the melee types (yup contradiction that I don't like hack and slash), but since NWN have definitely taken to the magic users.

I'm free most nights and would very much like to meet other UK/EU based players.
