I have been playing D&D since I was around 11 years old back in 1979. My parents got my brother and I the "blue box set" and one of the first box of miniatures. Having been reading Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit the year before, D&D was extremly exciting to me.
My mother attempted to help us "play" this new game by reading the rules a bit, but after a hour or so realized this wasn't Monopoly. Finally months later my brother had grasped the concept and had met a friend in high school that knew how to play.
From there, my brother and I started our first adventure: B1: In Search of the Unknown. We made our first characters (a human cleric for me and him a half-orc fighter)and delved into the dungeon, and from then on have played some form of the game since then!
Over the years,we have played other games, computer games (Baldur's Gate) and now NWN. I have was quite involved in the RPGA Living City Campaign years back, DM'ing (they called in "judging") and writing scenarios. That was fun times.
I love how adventureres evenutally bond friendships that emerge from stressful situations in a dungeon. That is what it is all about for me. Like Legolas and Gimli!
Now, with a busy schedule, I find myself hard pressed to play PnP games as getting groups together hard. Hence NWN.
As a player, I like to roleplay, but with a purpose. I enjoy playing characters with strong moral ethics since it is so easy in a make believe world to do acts of violence you normally can't (or shouldn't).
