I have played many computer rpgs like the Baldur's Gate series, Icewind Dale series but now my preference is NWN.
I prefer to play in forgotten realms rather than greyhawk because I have a larger knowledge of it. My favourite character is a Ranger that use stealth and a longbow, I might have a wizard level or two to mix things up a bit. I don't just stick to that though, I play all the other classes but don't particularly have an interest in the cleric or bard, jack of all trades but master of none, classes.
I prefer to have a good amount of roleplay and a less hack and slash, I also feel that magical items and xp should be hard to come by as well as gold. What adventurer wanders around with 700,000 gold in their back pack, hey?
I like to have to think about my quests and not to be completely hand guided through it, strategy should also be needed in fights, otherwise it gets too easy and then boring.
