DM Title: Exemplary Story Teller of the Inner Sanctum

Player Experience Points: 16343

About time I did an update. I wonder if anyone reads these things?

Okay, about me, first. I'm Dave, a 24-year-old english student and aspiring writer. I enjoy anime, computer games (duh), classic rock, metal and waving my long hair everywhere. I will openly admit to getting all weepy at the end of the Dragonlance 'twins' trilogy.

I've on and off DM'ed a pen and paper group for six/seven years. After four years, we started bringing alchohol to them, proving that I can and will DM with a hangover. Entire kingdoms have been destroyed because we were out of asprin and I had a headache. Truly great times.

In NWN, I am something of a luddite. I can make stuff in the toolset, but slowly. I can use the DM interface... But slowly. Scripting is nothing more than crazy moon language to me. As a DM, I'm there to tell a story. pure and simple. What story is decide dby the players. Face it, everyone has saved the world. It is dull. On the other hand, wondering if your rogue can save his family business, or your sorceror can cure himself before the magic in his soul burns him up from the inside... Well, you get the idea. I will bend over backwards to make any campaign I am in a story about the players, rather than the world itself. I'm not saying I am perfect at it, but I try.

As a player... Well, every good character has a little bit of their creator in them. I try to take little quirks or viewpoints and make them into fullblown people. Every character of mine has a flaw, and very few of them are 'heroes' in the conventional sense. Alignment is relative. Even a good character does not do good ALL the time. A paladin might believe that giving gold to beggars simply creates more beggars. An assassin might be particularly fond of cats, or his home town.

That said... I like tragic characters. I like my happy endings rare and elusive, thank you. Given the amount of random killing that a standard NWN game involves, I find it hard to play a consistently happy character. Still, the highs are high, and the lows are low. that sounds suitably like a life of adventure, doesn't it?

Party conflict is a must. The 'total strangers who ask to travel with each other' bit is my most despised cliche of the whole genre. Even above dual-wielding Drow rangers with angst. But some of the best plots can come out of two characters who totally hate each other coming to a gradual understanding.

Right. What else? I'm on GMT, but I am a closet insomniac and can/will play all night if I'm enjoying myself. I write lengthy RP posts and I give each of my characters a theme song or two. I encourage you to do the same, and then tell me about it. Really. Not that anyone does, but whatevah.

Current thought/s: I write a lot. I take breaks from my writing classes to write posts for RP games. I write profiles for myself that nobody ever reads. I even had a bio in DDO. And yet, I'm totally tone-deaf and I can't draw to save my life. This irks me, somewhat. But that's the kind of thought you get at 3 in the morning...
