As far as players go, I am a die-hard D&D player with a lot of experience in most adventuring techniques. I started playing D&D from Baldur's Gate, and played most releases after that, and even went back and played older games. I like a challenge when I roleplay, and I will create any character that will provide an interesting balance to a game, or something that will add a social twist. Let's face it, if my only character was Pally the Paladin, where would all the fun be? But my characters, Like "Count" for instance, add odd little encounters for people.I like playing new and old characters, and playing with people I have played with before, just to see what kind of new information spreads. I would like to thank the host of my first NWC experience, Elgaric, along with Key players from that game- Webhead87, a great palyer to get to know, he has the versatility that i would expect from a great roleplayer, he showed me two characters in a game, both of which are polar opposites, good signs.
As far as DMing goes, Im a decent hand in Experience, sponsering a few of the Second and third Edition dice games. Though the computer is a lot easier to manage, and much less time consuming.
An added note, I'm relativley new to the site, and (Though Im not Condemning the Site) I'm very unhappy with it. Mostly Because people with limited Role Playing ability (No Offense, I haven't played with many of you, This is currently a loose argument, with Document based support) such as this Month's Best Overall Player; LadyRolePlay. In Her Bio she States: "as a player I always play female, and a good alignment of some sort as otherwise can't maintain characte role, I'm just not destined to be neutral or evil..." This, to me, is an all too common, and inefficient way, to roleplay. While I agree that good characters are needed, they are not good for gameplay if used ALL THE TIME! An exceptional Roleplayer, like few I have seen, should be able to take on ANY ROLE, good, Evil, or even wierd ones like Lawful Neutral (and those are just alignments, there are many variables to take into consideration, not just class either, but social tendencies.), with little to no loss of character. I am appalled by the Cliche' characters that I run into in EVERY GAME I'VE PLAYED. I can predict every single thing they do, and it takes away from the value of the game. I'm not here to get the Best Overall Player award, I'm not trying to put down anyone who may have earned this, but when all you do is play the same 'Good' character, of course you are gonna be the Best in every Game, because it seems all judgment is on how NICE a character is, instead of how WELL they fit the role. A good Roleplayer should be HATED AS MUCH AS THEY ARE LOVED. A good Roleplayer should be able to paly on ANY EMOTION! not just kindness. I'm an actor, I'm a writer, I'm a musician, I create something, I empower it, and then I become it. I'm Kind, I'm Rude, I'm annoying, I'm Funny, but no matter what, if you irk me, I will ALWAYS BE CYNICAL.
Thank You.
Love, Jestyr
