I have been DMing here at Neverwinter Connections off and on for some time now. I got my start with SweeneyTodd and Duncan in the Menhir series which I helped to build in the beginning (story wise). Working with these guys definately taught me alot about DMing and about what works for me.
I've had to take some time off here and there and so coming back I find alot had changed. I am still affiliated with FleetStreet Gaming as a DM. A great group of DMs that has grown from one module to about 4 campaigns. I am hoping to add one more to the mix soon. See our website at www.fleetstreetgaming.com.
As a DM I enjoy heavy RP. That doesn't mean social RP only, though that can be alot of fun and I have been in great games where players spent over an hour in this type of play and loved it. We finally had to push them out the door. :). What I mean by RP heavy is that there is conflict and issues to overcome, but I try to tie them into the story so that they make sense. To me it doesn't make sense to be strolling along the city streets when suddenly out of no where comes a marauding group of bugbears. Unless that fits the story for whatever reason. Really not too different from games FleetStreet has already hosted.
We are all trying to tell a story of this world that spawned out of the Menhir Series. We are taking different areas of it to build out. We also hope to cross our modules back and forth between our players as we build it out. If our players get the feeling that they are in a living breathing world, then we have acheived, at least in part, our goal. Above all I want to offer fun gaming environments that people remember and want to come back to. That is what I strive for as a builder and DM.
Player? What is playing? :) I don't play much, I mostly always DM as that is what I enjoy the most. Though if I find a good game or get an invite, I am a heavy roleplay oriented player. I like to take the time to interact..and if it is kill, kill, kill without much motivation or inter-party/NPC interaction then I will get bored. I try to make my character seem like a real part of the world they are in and I work to help others feel immersed in the world.
