I have to admit, i'm not one of those who tried d&d and got hooked for life. I played some basic (VERY basic) PnP with my brother, but stopped when i was about ten years old. i played baldurs gate 1 and 2, and got icewind dale a bit later. I liked them but only as good games not because of roleplaying. But when we got rid of our old 56k modem and got cable i thought i'd try this game called neverwinter nights.
I started out by borrowing it at the local library and sure i liked the game but not much more than any other good game.
But then some time later i thought i'd give it another try. This time i delved into roleplaying instead of just running around on the net killing stuff. What can i say? I was hooked.
I went out and bought the game, and sat exited in front of my comp when i heard about the first expansion. But the more i played the less i liked the game. It seemed that i was the only one who wanted more than hack'n'slash. When i tried roleplaying the response was usually immature and out of character.
I was on the brink of abandoning the game when a guy at bioware told me to check this site out. So far it seems that i have found what i was looking for. It's great finally to meet like-minded people, to be able to join games where i know everyone play, not to become lvl 40 uber killer machines, but actually want to roleplay. Many thanks to the authors of this great site. You are the reason nwn is the only game i play at the moment and probably for a long time into the future.
