I've played PnP D&D on and off for many years (I wore out the original Player's Handbook, the one with the red statue on the front cover) and am thoroughly captivated by the digital version. As a player I prefer small-to-medium, cohesive groups of well thought out characters. My favorite characters to play and play with are those that work well together, which seems to generally mean good or neutrally aligned, though I've departed from that occasionally. While campaigns with tons of gold and magic items can be interesting, I much prefer lower-powered adventures where success is more dependent upon strategy and characters' abilities.
