Well as far as NWN goes I tend to prefer to be a henchman almost. I want to see the story unfold, not be the main charactor. (So if anyone is just looking for a henchman for a module they'd like to run through I've a charactor of practically every type saved at various levels.) But then again I've not really played with a DM on NWN, just mods. PnP I tend to be more vocal and have a more serious charactor. I do love combat though and will build my charactor to be a major force to be reckoned with. After that, I ask myself, "well, who is this person?" Some are more intersting then others, it usally takes me a while to get thier personality developed and I add more to thier history along the way. Mostly I try to make each charactor different from each other and different from who I am. I also try to keep them very unique from all other charactors and a bit extreme in view point (but not zealous). As a GM, all my games come out the same. Even when I try to run comedy games. Macbre, horrific, melodramatic (on an acceptable scale for RPGs),disturbing, epic, and filled with multi-tiered conspiracies.
