I am 31 years old and have been playing AD&D on and off since the original first edition books were released. My only experience with 3rd ED rules is through the various PC games (NWN, TOEE, ID2). I haven't DM'd in years but would like to ease myself back into it...I've always been a story-oriented DM, and as a DM and player I have never been fond of super-epic style campaigns (end of the world imminent, only the PC can stop the ultimate evil). Less melodrama and more thoughtfully developed plots are what I'm looking for. Not to say that epic stories aren't fun, they just get old quick. After playing the NWN OC, both Baldur's Gate games and Icewind games, as well as Morrowind and others, I'm ready for a change of pace.
As a player I like a bit of roleplaying but am put off by rules-lawyers and people who obsess about IC and OOC and so on. I am also uninterested in "canons," as far as strict adherence to printed materials such as sourcebooks or FR fiction or what have you.
