I have no clue how to create a powerful character and usually pump up skills relevant to a character's concept. Getting a unique plot item means more to me then any weapon or armor.

I'm told I play a good party support character- running around healing them while they fight, or keeping a positive outlook as we march off to die, etc :)

Its a game and I play to have fun.
