I am a long time table top player of Dungeons and Dragons (going back to the first white box set that TSR published back in the mid '70s). I have been both a player and a DM in many campaigns.
I am a novice at computer rpgs, however.
I recently bought Neverwinter Nights, and have played it for about 20 hours so far. I am intrigued by the game, and would like to try it as a player in multiplayer sessions.
In playing D & D at the table, I prefer a good balance between action, good story telling, and character development. As a DM (again at the table -- I have no experience at online DM'ing), I like to create worlds with lots of background and detail, and then put the players into fast moving plots that keep them from spending too much time bogged down in the minute details of that background.
My total time available for gaming is somewhat limited. I have a more than full time job, and I'm married, so I can't get away with too much time sitting at the computer, playing games. If this turns out to be something I enjoy, I might be able to join a 2-4 hour session every week or so.
