For a long time now I've always thought of the best roleplayers as those who can show emotion; it's something I've looked out for as both a player and a dungeon master. I enjoy roleplaying characters that're either neutral or evil, and I mould their personality and attitude into as much a realistic and believable character as possible. :)
Of course, I have been roleplaying/DMing for what I'd call a long enough time to be able to notice a good roleplayer straight away, depending entirely upon how the player acts, and what they say in any given situation. A player who stares death in the face and says something sarcastic, if they're not roleplaying a psychotic character, imo isn't a good example. However, it is entirely dependent upon the circumstances.
