As both player and DM I much prefer to roleplay than to kill things. I cut my teeth on this game playing in social roleplay taverns where there was nothing to kill, PvP was turned off, and there were no adventures (kind of). And I still had a good time, just interacting with other players.
Though I can role-play evil characters, it's more difficult over time, and I prefer to be non-evil and to be surrounded by likewise non-evil party members. This also applies both to my playing and to my DMing.
Another preference: I much respect the original PnP D&D rules which inspired this game, and I very much prefer to play and DM on modules that reflect those rules more closely, whether it be through HCR or some other package. The default NWN is too close in spirit to Diablo and other such games which, while fun in their own way, are not what I play this game for.
