DM Title: Exemplary Dungeon Master of the First Circle

Player Experience Points: 15730

Ive been a member of this site for a while now but havent actually gotten down to writing a profile. I guess It's about time I did so.

As a DM:

There's always the age old "Hack N'Slash Vs. Roleplay" dogma that seems to plague many ideas of play that I've seen. My guess is that if you read most profiles on this site they state that "I perfer Roleplay to Hack N'Slash." In my opinion there is a lot more to it than that. To break it down a bit further, here is what you can expect in my games.

1.) Although I lean heavily toward the Roleplay aspect of the game, there will almost alwyas be a plot of high adventure dangling over your heads, although it is up to you as to the pace that you deal with it. You can sit in a tavern and RP your rear off if thats what you wish, but I prefer to make the game fun in the same way that a good book or movie is enjoyable, with an intriguing plot, interesting NPC's, and a fair share of action to accompany it.

2.) Even if the general plot is predetermined expect your character to make a differenct in the campaign. The decisions you make will effect the game. I definitely accomodate and encourage in allowing the PC's to come up with their own unique plans as to dealing with the task at hand. It may take some creativity on my part, but that also makes the game fun as a DM. I especially enjoy it when a group goes beyond the engine and forces an RP'd way of dealing with the matter utilizing the chat interface and dice rolls. This changes the game into a true tabletop RPG, rather than a simple game of NWN and is what turely makes the game great.

3.) I work hard to personalize the world to the PC's. Expect to see people, places, and things brought up in your character bio's in game. I also generate personalized content based on in game decsions or character personalities as it fits so you feel as if you were a part of the game world and are therefore more attached to it.

As a Player:

I tend to play a PC with an average background rather than a super, jedi, ninja, warrior, who is half beholder/half dragon. I'm more likely to play Joe the cleric, or Mac the wizard with a generally ordinary background. I prefer to make my character interesting by their in game personalities and decisions rather than an outrageous history. In real life we tend to enjoy people with a genuinely interesting or fun personality rather than a wild background, so I feel that playing a PC in this manner makes for a more enjoyable character. This doesnt mean that I dont strive to come up with a unique character concept, only that I do not make the background the most interesting part of that concept.

Still there? Wow! Thought I might have lost a few of you, but it looks like some of us made it through *whew*. Thanks for reading and hope to see you in game!
