Roleplaying Guide - read it, learn it, love it I have so little Pen and Paper experience its not worth mentioning, but I've always been an avid reader of fantasy novels and an avid player of CRPGs. I started playing at NWC around September 2002. Around February 2003 I made the switch from playing and DMing. I enjoy both but I find that DMing has kind of turned me into a back-seat driver when playing in other people's games. :) Currently I am focused on building content more than anything else. When DMing: - I'm very player-centric. I believe that for campaign games its best to run applications and let the players rank who they want to play with the most.
- I try to get players involved in the XP process by giving them XP wands, letting them vote on a "Best Player in Game" bonus at the end of session, bonus XP for character journals, bonus XP for custom designing the appearance of their armor
- I love to tweak the ruleset. I typically run modules with tweaked rulesets that I believe enhance gameplay.
- I really enjoy watching the party interact but I also enjoy a really good fight. I wouldn't have one without the other.
- I strongly believe that every character should have a reason to be in the party, and a reason to be on the adventure.
- I hate it when players "disappear" for a session. I think players/DMs should work together to come up with IC reasons for disappearances... They can easily add some very interesting new twists to the plot.
- I don't look at good and evil as a black vs white thing but rather shades of gray. I like to create situations where the "bad guys" have the same goals as the party but the "good guys" are against them.
Here is a list of all the NWN-related projects I have been involved with at one point or another. Here is a list of NWN-related projects that I am currently working on. I use the aliases "whistler" for NWC and OldManWhistler for NWVault and the Bioware message boards. In real life I am a computer engineer who spends far too much time on message boards instead of doing actual work.
The munchkin's guide to 3rd Ed D&D. Fun stuff.
Module submission guidelines for Dungeon magazine. Most are applicable to NWN as well.
