I’ve been playing/DMing D&D since 1980 (AD&D, 2nd Ed, & 3rd Ed). Over the years, my gaming group has scattered across the earth, but cable modems and NWN have enabled us to finally get back together again to play D&D on a regular basis. We currently play NWN from 10 pm Eastern until around midnight, every Thursday and Saturday night, if able.
Right now I'm happily modding, but have plans to eventually finish some of my custom NWN scripts (e.g., lootable corpses). We're playing a “freeform” campaign (custom mods built by us, rotating DMs, with DMFI, etc.), based around -- and evolving with -- the PC’s background stories.
As a DM: I like campaigns or single-shot adventures. I hate cheating, so I prefer server vault PCs. I like parties of 3-6 players, to keep it manageable. I’m not a killer DM, but I’ll let the dice “fall where they may” if the players want that kind of game. I’ve released one mod (Bitter Harvest) on NWVault, and am working on my second one. I have lots of experience DM'ing in NWN, and I'm frustrated by the limitations of the DM client sometimes, but I try to ensure the players always have fun. I like it when players try to roleplay “outside the box” in NWN (using PC Dice Bag to listen at a door, check to tracks, etc.). I like it when players walk when it makes sense (i.e., exploring a town), run when it make sense. I dislike “l33t” munchkins -- ‘nuff said. We've used Teamspeak with NWN, and it's great. Co-DMing is also a blast; great learning experience!
As a player: I like to play all alignments and classes. I like to roleplay, but I like the adventure to be like a Star Wars or Indiana Jones movie -- some talk, lots of action. I like campaigns where PCs shape the storyline.
